If you think you might want to get one or more magazines for your semi-automatic firearm(s), now is a very good time.
Magazines are available at relatively non-inflated prices, and there are no Federal restrictions that I know of on purchase, sale, shipment or possession. Some states do have restrictions and some of these restrictions are harsh.
Tragic recent events involving the slaughter of innocent victims make a push for Federal regulation of magazines more likely. I would not be surprised by loud and shrill calls to require a NICS check for magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. I can even imagine a law which would prohibit the purchase of any additional magazines if you already had three of that same type -- who could possibly need more than three 10 round 5.56 NATO type magazines. Whether the push will lead to new law being enacted is uncertain, but noise about regulating/restricting/banning magazines could lead to a run that would deplete the current supply and raise prices considerably.
