I've been wanting to become an NRA certified instructor, so to start it all off I took an NRA Basic Pistol class this week.
My intention was to observe the instructors to see how they do it.
I was surprised to find that it was really useful (shows me what I know
). The guys and gal were great. I am new to the 1911 platform so I brought my Sig 1911-22 with me, and one of the instructors showed me a better way to grip the pistol. Low and behold, my groups really improved! And here I was thinking my GSG/Sig was just an "ok" plinker
I also have been shooting with a modified Weaver stance for as long as I can remember, and the same fella suggested trying Isosceles. It took some getting used to, but I think I'll stick with that too.
I feel like a professional golfer who just changed their golf swing!!
I recommend the course to anyone, experienced or not.
It seems I'm not quite done learning new things after all.
