I'm attending through Saturday evening. I have to get back for Sunday services, but the trip from my house is only about 2-2.5 hours depending on traffic. This will be my first annual meeting, although I have been an NRA member for a long time.

The exhibitor list alone looks like it would take a couple days to check out. I'm thinking sore feet are in my future.

...like every city, Dallas has some publicity hound public officials that will take advantage of a media news-person with a microphone and a camera. The recent demonization of the NRA in the wake of shootings was irresistible to some of the common-sense deficient publicity scavengers.

Question about the Dallas convention

Are members allowed to attend on all days, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th? Or are any of those days reserved for certain activities other than for normal members?

I've never been to one of these events, but I'll be at this one. Thanks

As far as I can tell from the website, an eligible member can attend all the days, but some of the special events require a ticket that must be purchased.

I attended the last one held in St. Louis and enjoyed it a lot. We went to the dinner and Larry the Cable Guy. Lots of exhibits to go through, not a lot of stuff for sale unless you stick around at the every end when dealers are not wanting to load up stuff. It is something everyone should do at least once in their life if they can. Glad I did.

Go this year if you can.

I have a couple answers for questions asked earlier.

Yes, the SWCA has a display in the collectors area. I also have it on good authority that there are going to be 2 other S&W displays across the aisle from the SWCA. The Virginia Gun Collectors Assn. has a member displaying S&Ws. And next to them on the floor plan is a combined booth of the American Society of Arms Collectors and the Maryland Arms Collectors Assn. displaying some extremely rare S&Ws. I was told this is the first time in the history of the NRA Annual Meetings that 3 collector displays will be Smith and Wessons.

Second, the dates that the exhibit hall is open for all NRA members is Friday, May 4 from 9 am-6 pm
Sat, May 5 from 9 am-6 pm
Sun, May 6 from 10 am-5 pm

I'm going and hope to see some of you there.

SWCA #1834

Six hour round trip. Spend about four to five hours at the exhibits.....
Think there would be less crowd on Friday?
Went to the Houston show and could hardly walk the floor on Saturday.
Maybe....

I'd like to see the NRA convention in one of the Demanding Mayors of Florida's cities. St Pete will soon be looking for some gigs in the dome Tropicana Field. Tampa has a nice convention center and hockey rink.
Since both Kriseman and Buckhorn are jumping in the repeal the state pre-emption law.

I am making every effort to be there, probably Friday or Sunday. Saturday is always reserved for our coffee group, and I won't miss that unless I'm too sick to get out of bed.

I'll make a point to check in at the SWCA booth just so you guys can put a name to a face to a login.

It's only an hour's drive for me.
I already have my credentials to wear around my neck.
I plan on going each of the 3 days. I haven't planned on going to any of the paid shows.
Parking will be expensive enough at the parking area.
