I'd like to say a grateful 'Thank You' for the 22 rounds sent me for our newbies' event'
In addition to a full brick sent by ladder13, another member sent me a nearly full brick, of some different makes.
At our last newbies' event, we had 28 attendees, of which about 17 or 18 were actual newbies, the rest being parents or family members. (I have to require that a parent/guardian be present with anyone under 18 at the range.......thats California 'mickey-mouse' for you, but I have to live with it)
Most of these newbies had never fired any sort of weapon previously, this being an 'urbanised' area where the generality of young people have little or no opportunity.
Each newbie was issued one or two boxes of 22, which they fired with a choice of bolt, slide, or lever rifles, and a choice of my Smith K22 or a Club members Ruger semi-auto pistol......or a bit of both. (as you can see, these events burn a lot of 22)
Most of the newbies showed surprisingly good proficiency with an hour or so of basic instruction. (reasonably good basic proficiency being defined as keeping their rounds in the bull of a standard B-3 target at 50ft with a rifle, or at 7yds with a handgun.......some did nice 1/2" groups at 50ft using my old bolt Winchester M69A with the old style Lyman aperture sight)
Again, thank you for the help in keeping our event going.......and the newbies said to say 'thank you' as well......... : )
cheers
Carla
