Well LaPierre is making some good points like:

1. The media ignores and fails to report the real points of society's poisons like violent movies and video games.

2. We protect money in banks, the president, nuke plants and so on with guns, but we won't protect our kids with armed security.

The one proposal he made as far as demanding the government propose the funds to put police officers in every school...ahhhh it will never happen in our lifetime.

Folks I think we are in real trouble here.

I disagree with number 1. Trying to blame video games and movies is just trying to shift attention.

I stated earlier in another thread that I've been exposed to the same games and movies while growing up. The difference is my dad took time to discuss violent games like Mortal Kombat and DOOM with me. My parents also set limits on how long and often I could play video games.

Lets blame rap music. Rap hasn't taken much heat lately.

There's a lot of parents that use the games and movies as a babysitter without any further explanation. I personally agree with all Wayne had to say.

I agree with what LaPierre said also, as far as being in trouble. I am not to sure about that. Bottom line is congress answers to the voters with the increase in gun sales. People will go to the polls and vote if congress try's to restrict there rights.

many many schools here have had police within the schools for quite a number of years SRO'S= school resource officer

As I posted before, this is not about video games or movies. This will be decided when liberal reporters ask each of our representatives in congress "…So what is more important <Reps name> preventing the killing of women and babies or protecting gun owners…"

Yeah, I wouldn't start to worry about being in trouble until we see what legislation is proposed and how the NRA counters it. I'd put more emphasis on how they handle that. I think they are going about it well, regardless of how you felt the conference went. They are putting up a possible solution and not engaging in politicizing it until it actually shows up on the floor of the House or Senate.

When you think about it. People on both sides of the gun issue are, at this point, looking to the NRA for a stance on what happened. I think we already know what it is. So, at this point asking the NRA to feed into this media fest the way the anit-gun lobby is, is like turning to you lawyer for emotional support. That isn't really what they are there for, they are there to counter bad legislation IMHO...

We use guns to arrest violent crazies and criminals. We use guns, walls, and fences to keep them in prison.

I thought LaPierre did an excellent job of stating the issues. (He is not Charlton Heston or Ronald Reagan, and this was the right time for a very low key speech anyway)

The protestors that went to stand in front of him with large signs should have been arrested and given psychological exams.

The protestors tried to block the camera view of his examples of video games. The one where people figures in a school building were being shot by the game player, and flopped over on the schools windowsills when shot, was timely.

Nothing about the hypnotic effects of staring at such garbage for hours.

Maybe if we had a TV channel showing the games to adults it might help. Kids are getting desensitized to violence. One news spot on Iraq a few years ago showed some young soldiers coming back from patrol and rushing to play violent video games.

If this was not a free country we could confine and hypnotize those protestors to move to Russia and follow putin around with signs.

Funding is a issue for putting police officers in every school. Thats a easily fixed issue lets stop giving free money away to every 3rd world nation under the sun and start putting money into our own country. Maybe its time United States stops looking after everyone else and starts looking after its self.

I don't think Wayne's suggestion of having armed security at schools is going over too well with the pundents. The idea makes sense, but I don't think it is going to get much traction. The usual political hacks are whining already about that. I do think that under the circumstances Wayne did as well as he could, as he said all the right things. He was under incredible pressure, as I could see in his demeanor. Whether his presentation this morning, somewhat defuses this situation, or not, we will see.

Excellent point. Billions to Pakistan and Egypt and all we get is that they burn our flag and hate us. Money don't buy respect or friendship.

Steeley Dan is exactly right, 1.5 Billion to Egypt, 3.9 Billion to Afghanistan, 3.1 Billion to Pakistan.

That's right everyone, those are Billions with a B. I think we could pull a billion off the top to fund cops to protect our schools.

alot of gun owners voted for these nitwits in the firstplace, sadly.

Amen to that! I it were up to me I would close our borders and cut off ALL foreign aid. Your TAX dollars hard at work. Just think what we could do with all those Billions. City renewal, mental health programs for those that need it, education, infrastructure maintenance, and that list goes on and on.

But it will never happen because the general American population will continue to elect politicians ithat support welfare and all other forms of free hand outs!
