So far I agree with everything Wayne has said. ASA just came onto the stage. Opinions?

I am a High School teacher in Massachusetts. For years we had an armed police man in our school, until funding was cut.
The kids are accustomed to seeing armed police on the streets. It wasn't an issue seeing one in school.
I don't understand why so many critics of today's NRA speech were mocking the idea.
It didn't impact the learning atmosphere in a negative way. It was quite natural, and it actually did a lot of positive relationship building between the students and the police.
This is just my read on it.

Just watched Pelosi, Hunter (D/ Md.) and Crowley (D/ NY.) shoot down the NRA proposal on C-Span,,,, This is not what America wants and any armed guard would escalate the situation. Pelosi and Hunter are both sure that the majority of the NRA membership would not agree with any of this!

I really didn't expect any less.... The Government has failed with this issue and they couldn't stand being called on it....Imagine that!

Because if the gun haters admit it's a good idea, they defeat their "civilized view of the world" that all schools are safe.

I didn't think that indicting the entertainment industry was a good idea at first, but he played it right, if maybe a bit too much. It's a good start, but more focus needs to be on protecting the 2nd Amendment, calling out the pundits stats as non-sense and attack with real stats. The anti-gun sheep keep pointing out the gun deaths of other countries, but hardly any pro-gunner mentions that violent crime has risen greatly in each case. And for the love of God, correct these idiots when they call AR-15/AK's as Assault Weapons!!

The presence of armed-police in a school setting works. I was with a small department in MN that has maintained a school presence for years. The officers were assigned to quell drug and gang-related matters or intrusions. The mere presence of an armed officer nose-dived the number of incidents.

The funding burden was shared by the city and the school-board. It was a win-win for both parties. The community truly benefited, as the officers followed the school-district calendar and were available to fill-in for the department for vacations, personal-time off or sick-days. The officers liked the added funds and the city did not have to hire another officer for fill-ins.

I certainly would wish that the media would understand that many school-districts currently do have officers present in their schools in many states already. Here in GA, where I now live, there are many local school-districts that already have armed-officers present in the schools. I would like the media to ask our wise legislators in Washington, DC, why they cut Federal funding for such programs prior to the CT-shootings that were already in place? How could they endanger our children's lives to funnel money into their pork-barrel projects instead? The onus of deleting the funding now rests completely on the legislators.

Shoot. I'm a former Leo and soldier and private security person. I'd volunteer a few hours a week to keep'em safe

Sheep Don't Like Sheepdogs

Just watched Pelosi, Hunter (D/ Md.) and Crowley (D/ NY.) shoot down the NRA proposal on C-Span,,,, This is not what America wants and any armed guard would escalate the situation. Pelosi and Hunter are both sure that the majority of the NRA membership would not agree with any of this!

This is the picture in my mind's eye:
The sheep are bleating, no surprise. They don't like sheepdogs, because they have fangs and look too much like wolves. And the sheep resent having the sheepdogs herd them. But when the wolves do come, then sheep blame the sheepdogs if they are not there. (credit to Col. Grossman for the simile)

Wayne came out like a sheepdog today, when he said ".. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." The sheep were shocked! They have no fangs and can't comprehend using them. But I think this is the plain truth we need to push to the sheep- when you call for help, who do you want to be there RIGHT ****ING NOW? A good guy with a gun. A sheepdog.

This is a "common sense" solution, and it will drive the banners nuts trying to say it isn't so. They can only get so far lying, either to themselves or to what they consider "their" constituency. But, more Americans own guns than anytime in the last 20 years, and they know why they own them. I think we're in for a good fight, but I have confidence in the future, if we can all push in the same direction. If you still think the NRA is not at the point of our flying wedge, you haven''t been paying attention. And like it was popular to say in the "60s, if you aren't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

This is what we need. The NRA has millions of members. Just my opinion but if we want to protect our rights, a little volunteer action on our part will be great. We can keep a polite distance from the place, but the school knows our cell phones so that they can call us in case of emergency. Then we don't tie up city resources by having cops in schools.

BTW, thank you sir for your service to this great nation of ours!

10-4, He made a number of very good points.

Yes he did! BUT!!! lets see just how much bite instead of bark they really have. Lets see if paying off all these deep pocket politicians really helps us out. Lets see how our membership dues and the income from the gun manufactures helps our rights.

If I were a gambling man I say its not going to help and we are all in deep do do. The liberal masses will pull off one hell of a AWB that we will not recover from. This country is going to see the second ammendment disappear!
