NRA scores in NY: "Judge orders New York to dole out nearly half a million in legal fees to NRA after Supreme Court victory"

FIRST ON FOX - A New York judge ordered the state to pay nearly half a million dollars in legal feels to the National Rifle Association (NRA) after the gun rights group won a major case at the Supreme Court.

In a case decided last summer, the Supreme Court ruled that a New York public carry licensing law was unconstitutional and that the ability to carry a pistol in public was a constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

The NRA was a party in that case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, and last week a New York judge ordered the state to pay $447,700.82 in legal fees.

Yeah for the good guys.

(Years and years ago a guy in SF won a judgement of something like $400 against Ma Bell. They didn't pay. He showed up one day at their HQ building with a couple of deputies and started kicking people out of HIS building. A bunch of the suits opened their wallets and paid him his money. I know it isn't EXACTLY the same thing, but it would still be a hoot for the NRA to have to enforce the settlement.)

Let's see now...a New York State concealed carry permit is now basically useless. Since the last Supreme Court "victory" regarding New York State's requirement to show "need" to get a concealed carry permit, our Governor retaliated and now you can't legally concealed carry into any business unless they have a sign out front saying "Legal Concealed Carry Allowed". You can't stop for gas anywhere. You can't stop for milk and eggs. Can't go to Home Depot or Lowe's. As of last month, New York State now has background checks for all ammo purchases. Like someone above this post said, New York's taxpayers will be paying for this NRA "victory". I'm not bashing the NRA, I'm a Life Member, but, despite their efforts, I only see the 2nd Amendment being further deteriorated in New York State.

The other option is the NRA let New York State be governed only as well as it deserves. Would you prefer they stay out of it?
I grew up in the Hudson Valley, and I am NEVER going back. My fellow New Yorkers made it very clear they don't want me, my freedoms, my independence. They continue to vote for the opposite of everything I care about.
So, for my brother and sisters in NY, two of whom have CCW permits there, I think the NRA and other orgs like them should do more, and any time their victory is met with another horrible and draconian response like last time, they get closer to moving out.
Eventually NY will get so blue it is bankrupt, and as before there will be a lot of NY license plates on cars in driveways all around PA, OH, NH, and ME.

Ronald Regan's 11th Commandment should be an example of a similar Commandment for all of us to follow before speaking negative of any organization that fights for our 2nd Amendment rights!

No, I support the NRA. There's a reason I'm a Life Member and continue to contribute when I can. I'm not somebody that usually throws in the towel, but I may end up leaving, as you did.

Member of the NYSRPA for over 30 years. Glad to finally see them get their due, in compensation, and winning one of the biggest 2A cases ever.
Took 10 years of court battles.

:D Well like Carlisle you have me beat on years. I have had a standing invite by TK to stop into the office and say hi. One of these days if I get South of Albany I will do just that!

He used to come by Putnam Fish and Game quite often. He took a lot of flak over the years for sure from us rabid 2A folks in my club.
In the end, the NYSRPA won the case they set out to win. What else could they do, nothing?
I wonder if they'll get back all the money since this all started in 2013.

I hope so it would be nice.

I went to many gun shows over the years and like a game of pool we ran into each other often.
