NRA's new Defensive Pistol course

7/14/11 As of today, the NRA has not released any information or time-line regarding the introduction of the Defensive Pistol class. As a NRA Master Training Counselor I am expecting to have early access to the course so I can provide it to many of the TC's and Instructors that have contacted me from many States asking me to conduct the class. I will re-post any information I receive.

What Defensive Pistol course??

I'm an NRA Personal Protection in the Home Instructor and will be getting certified to teach Personal Protection Outside the Home next month.

I was unaware that NRA plans on expanding this to another level. I hope it is as good as PPIH is!

I've heard that the course is being developed for NRA by an OHIO Training Counselor. He is supposedly ONLY working with instructors that he personally trained while he develops the BETA version of this courses training content. I've not heard of a date for completion.

That would definitely be different. A Master Counselor that my organization works with quite a bit has been involved in the development of several of the NRA courses, including both PPITH and PPOTH, and he always went to VA and worked with a full team of NRA personnel for those projects.

I'm curious to see how this comes about. I've already had a number of my students ask me about it.
