I believe pistol mags are included. No more 8 rd 1911 mags. Possibly no more 8 rd revolvers.... Broomhandle Mausers.... 1873 Winchesters...anybody remember how many rounds a Spencer holds? A Henry repeating rifle from circa 1860 would also have a newly verboten mag.
People in NY might go along with it. Rest of the country is starting to feel like Kansas just before the ACW. Folks looking at each other suspiciously and burying guns.
New Yorkers should be accustomed to this.... I've long dreaded if I ever have to visit New York and constantly educate my students the dangers of flying through or driving through that horrible state!

Or flee to Canada which will now have a more permissive gun law than NY. I wonder if a New Yorker could appeal for refugee status in Canada....
There are still some WW2 and Korean War vets around who will now have themselves forbidden to have a full en bloc clip for their Garand. That is a slap in the face.
A Federal court could of course strike down the NY law.
I would suggest citizens in other states not buy products made in NY. It might also be worth while to try to convince a state governor to do something amusing like declare that NY driver's liscenses are no longer valid in their state and ordering that the state police ticket any cars with NY plates...

We all need to send letters like this to our Govenors and representatives.
I want to add that this is not just a NY issue, our country just took a step in the wrong direction.
I know that this legislation will be met by fierce opposition in the courts, but I truely feel for those that will have to fight this battle on our behalfs. Some of our brethren in NY will be arrested and prosecuted because of these insane laws.
This will be a long fight, but I honestly believe we will eventually come out on top. But we have to stay united in the cause. Bitching about what the NRA does and doesn't do won't help our cause. This fight is for all of us and we all need to invest our time and money to it.
March on your Capitol this saturday!

I could be wrong, but I think this was a calculated move by the NRA, based on several issues.
1. NY politics is filled with idiots who keep getting re-elected by other idiots, you know the type. There was no point to contesting it because of the sheer number of spineless weasels and other scum who they knew would roll over and not fight it.
2. This bill is not kind of unconstitutional, it is clearly unconstitutional. I'm not a lawyer, but having been involved in a couple of attempts to find a case that sets the precedents a company wants, this bill is perfect for the NRA to sue against. It has so much inherently illegal in it, vague and unenforceable it should be an almost immediate overturn.
That overturn essentially allows the NRA to stall other states and at some point, get SCOTUS to permanently strike down some of the measures NY is using. I would not figuratively shoot the NRA just yet.
I'm sorry NYers are taking the beating to get this done. I'm still amazed people ever allowed it to get to the point it was at in NY,CA, NJ, MA etc. The capital in my state would be on fire before this happened, not advocating that obviously. I hope you guys come out on top of this, you are clearly being hosed.

NY is throwing the 2nd A under the proverbial bus. Reducing magazine capacities to 7, mandating registration, and other regulations will do nothing to reduce gun crimes. Do they really think that criminals will abide by these laws? And they couldn't even pass a mental health component without screwing it up. They now mandate therapists to report to the authorities any person who appears to be a threat to themselves or others. This will trigger the police to confiscate any guns in that persons home. That person my never be able to posses a gun again. So people who own guns feel the need for counseling and seek a therapist. Does the Gov. honestly believe this patient will disclose anything that will jeopardize his gun(s)? Many of these folks will probably not go to counseling rather than face this possibility. Now we'll have people with mental issues, and guns, afraid to seek help. NY has, in effect, ******* the majority of honest, law abiding citizens and done nothing to correct the problem.

If you decide to move, think about Texas. Texans are friendly, the cost of living is reasonable and we have no state income tax. The landscapes of the state are so varied: East Texas has lots of trees and beautiful lakes. South Texas is close to the coast. West Texas is like the "old west" in many ways. The downside is it gets pretty hot here during the summer. The upside is that Texas is pro gun and we shoot and hunt without government interference.

The libs feel empowered. The POTUS feels like he has a mandate. They think it's a bandwagon and they're all jumping on. I think an impeachment filing is warranted if they try to use Executive Order to bypass congress and the Constitution. That would certainly slow things down and perhaps provide a slap of "we're not going to take this". The smarter ones (there aren't many) will start evaluating their re-election prospects once they see their voting constituents objecting to their tactics. I hoping....

So, if this law in NY stands, we'll have a whole new batch of 7 round mags coming out. If that happens, the next shooting will result in a new law for 4 rounds, then 2, then one which I think is called a single-shot.

It actually hasn't been voted into "legislation" yet. This story says it passed senate vote but still has to go through a legislation process this morning which he's trying to vote it in completely to avoid having to wait 3 day aging period. Even then some portions could be deemed unconstitutional by SC and be thrown out.
With that aside, I still agree its flipping BS and hope NY feels the pain economically when the exodus of law abiding gun owners happens.

I too live in NY. I've had a fairly good life here and am at a time in my life I can retire. I have a son ready to start college and I will also relocate. NYC runs this State and there seems to be nothing we can do. I'm hoping there will be a mass exodus of the more conservative populous and we can leave the leftists fend for themselves.
The NYS legislature is comprised of the Senate and Assembly. The Assembly is dominated by Democrats something like 2-1, they wanted to see if this flew in the Senate first, as the Senate is the tougher battle historically. This Bill will be Law as soon as the Assembly votes and that person signs the legislation, it's a given.
I'm not going to waste another minute trying to reason with these folks, getting out as soon as family issues allow.

This is unreal and one of the reasons I left NY after almost 50 years of living there!
The 1994 to 2004 gun ban did NOTHING to make anyone safer but lets ban everything again so the good people of the State of NY can't protect themselves in the manner they see fit! The Government has no right to dictate to anyone what gun and how much ammo they use to protect their family! PERIOD!!!

It's as bad as it gets for us and we are sick about it. There was hope that it wouldn't get past the Senate or at the very least there would be some modifications. The vote was overwhelmingly in favor of passing the proposals, it wasn't even close.

I started trying to read through the legislative language but my eyes soon glazed over and I got queasy from all the leftist, self serving propaganda speak that infests the treatise.
They are going out of their way to say "we know what's best, we decide what's right and wrong, and to the devil with anyone who disagrees".
Lawsuits are sure to abound - one can only hope that there are enough people in that state left with some common sense that this will not be allowed to stand.
