NYC spanked for "Good Moral Character" requirement for permits

....Everything from parental rights to gun control to the size of a soda you're allowed to buy to what and where you're allowed to smoke to yada, yada, yada . . . they covet CONTROL and insist on laying their grubby phalanges on everything concerning someone else while they use it as a license to dictate to the rest of us.
C.S. Lewis addressed that behavior eloquently:
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”

CS Lewis words are great.

copied..."Were the Constitution the granter of the right to free speech, religion, assembly and so forth, the First Amendment would not start out, “Congress shall make no law.” That part of the sentence clearly states that the government has no rightful authority over those things and is blocked from infringing upon them. This is the concept of negative rights."

"The Constitution doesn’t grant us freedoms; it prohibits government from taking them."

Guess the word "infringe" has been sat in the corner with our statues and pictures.

the FOPA of 1986 specifically prohibits building a database of firearms and owners. I hope that is part of one of the lawsuits.

The FOPA only applies to the federal government. States do as they wish at the moment.

Eg.: Hawaii registers ALL firearms. CA and NY now have a database of all firearms transactions through an FFL. NY requires registration of all handguns. NJ requires a firearms ID card for every firearm purchase. Etc etc

Very true, the federal government is barred from creating a database of firearms ownership, but states may do so and several have done so.

Who evaluates your social score, last time I checked majority of the powers at the top were corrupt, immoral and on the take?

I can see it now, the Dept. Of Morality. They can use the office space of the failed False News Dept.
No, I think it falls under the Ministry of Love.*
