New question - were they 3983 Double Strike Capable? What else was unique enough to not go with the readily available 3953 like they had done with 5946?
The 3914DAO which is Double Strike Capable appears to have been chosen in late 1997 or early 1998 over the 3983 prototypes and it appears to be one of the earliest production pistols with that capability.
Never mind - I found the answer - they were essentially 3913DAO with Double Strike Capability predating the 3914DAO that was added to the NYPD approved list circa late 1997 / early 1998.
