I just came across something that I think is unusual. Perhaps someone here has seen it before.

It is a Model 10 BP box. What is unusual, is it has the solid line around the top, instead of the hash marks, and it says "of Bangor Punta." Most of them say "A Bangor Punta Company," and have the hash mark line.

I don't believe I have ever seen one before with the solid line and "of Bangor Punta."

Any thoughts?

I think I have seen these and suspect it was from right around the time of BP’s acquisition of the company. You can market it as “a rare Transitional box” and no one will object. :)

A funny comment, Alan. Thanks.

I would love to acquire it, just because it is unusual, but I don't think it is for sale.

Here's the interesting part. A guy sent me pictures of it along with an absolutely beautiful 6" Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman. He thought it was the original box for his HP. The HP has a 1969 S prefix number and is in 99% condition. The box is pristine too, but I had to tell him it was incorrect for his N frame revolver.

Boy, Alan, I'm feeling a bit foolish. Going through my safe, I discovered that I actually have one of these boxes - for a 4" Model 10-5. Here's a picture:
