I put a flag on my shed a couple years ago. It originally was on a 6 foot pole that allowed the flag to brush against the shed roof and would fray the flag. I bought a 8 foot pole, and a new flag that claimed to be USA made less than a year ago, the flag cant touch anything now.

A couple days ago I noticed a big square missing from it. No sign of where the missing part is, I know nobody messed with it unless they jumped the locked 6 foot gate, and brought a 6 foot ladder with them and avoided the camera facing the shed.

Anyone ever see a flag do this?

Got a new one today that I'm sure is USA made.

I have been flying a flag in every home I've lived in ever since I bought my first back in 1983. I will only buy USA made quality flags. I have been buying them from Costco lately and believe they are made by Liberty Flag Co. I routinely replace them once a year (usually on July 3rd) as the SW FL sun is not kind on flags. They are out 24/7/365 and properly lit for night flying so they get no rest. The local Fire Dept. takes the worn out flags and honorably disposes them.

I have never seen a patch like that come out but I guess there could have been a defective piece of material on it.

Mine always fades before it gets worn enough to replace. The sun is rough on them here.

I had FPL mount a street light on the pole that lights up my front flag and yard good enough to almost read a book at night, and have a 110 landscape light shining on my shed flag.

I have my flag on a 20' flagpole. It's near the house but only bushes against anything when it's at half staff, which unfortunately is getting to be more common. Here in NE FL, I'm lucky if the flag last a year.

Just took these 2 pictures with my cell phone, flash tuned off. I actually keep the yard lite up for night time armadillo activities. I'm sure the camera lightened up the pics some, but it's bright.

Because of the rectangular neat hole shape ... I wonder if the oeiginal bolt of fabrric the flag was made from ... had a defective spot in the weave and the defect removed by cutting a small rectangle out and a patch was woven in at that spot ... to hide it .
That woven in patch would make for a place for a nice neat hole to develop ... with a bit of age and use .
This is my best guess ...I don't see a person climbing your fence to cut out a small rectangle of cloth ... all that trouble and he would just take the whole flag , pole and all ...
and run like hell !

Your New Flag looks Awesome !
Keep On Keepin On ...
