Odd Rifle

I acquired this Russian rifle a few years ago and it's part of my eclectic WWII collection. I have just a few rifles (33/40Mauser, M1 carbine, Garand , A3. This is one of the odd ones. A Russian SVT 40 captured and reworked by the Finish Army. The condition is very good with Finnish marking on certain parts........The Germans liked to use them too!

Great rifle! I have one as well, also Finn marked. A smooth shooting piece. I used to have a couple of the Russian rebuilt ones that came in back in the 90's as well. Neat guns with lots of history. Sold off the others but held onto the Finn capture, just too nice to let it go.

My late friend who was a mil-surp collector had one of these. Very interesting rifle. When I sold off his collection for his wife, the SVT 40 sold almost as soon as I got it listed.

Yes, same cartridge. There was an earlier version as well, the SVT 36.

I have a Finnish capture as well. The SVT 1940 didn't hold up that well in service.

Very nice. The Finns let nothing go to waste and fought valiantly against both the Germans and Russians in turn. The is a Finnish war museum on an island in the harbor at Helsinki. It has some great displays of weapons they adapted and modified in their fights for independence. Great people and Helsinki is a great small city.

I bought one that was like new with a couple of extra magazines back in the early 90’s. It was an advanced rifle for the time and as I remember, accurate and soft shooting.
