odd s&w knife question

I have a Smith and Wesson Bowie knife that is unlike any other I've seen. It's a bowie and looks just like the ones that came with the Texas Ranger commerative. However

the grip is yellow micarta. Do you think this is factory? It does not have a serial number, does have the Smith logo, and the handle is exactly like all the other bowies I've seen in shape, guard and pommel.

Any thoughts?

We need pictures. At one time, Smith & Wesson offered kits to make your own Bowie style knife. Perhaps yours in one of those knives. Ed.
