Hi folks,

I just acquired a long-sought 1066, thanks to a member here.

Upon comparing it to the big-brother 1006, it became apparent that its slide release was substantially longer than the same part on the larger gun.

Were extended releases available on the aftermarket for 3rd gens?

All comments welcome.

Ed Brown offered the extended slide release, safety/decockers in both 9mm and .45/10mm. Single side and ambi safety/decockers were available. Their extended mag catch nut looks like the ones on some PC’s. I bought several sets in the early 90’s.

I still have a slide release and ambi on a 645 just for nostalgia and have saved a .45 release and single side safety/decocker. Over the years I’ve gifted my other 9mm and .45 ones to Forum members that wanted them more than I did.

Jim, the part appears to be identical to the one in your photograph.

I appreciate everyone’s input. It would have been nice not to be so late to the 3rd gen party.

First time I have seen anyone post a photo of a gun they own and ask, "Does this exist?"...

There was a member on here that did an identical one. But if I remember correctly, he pretty much took a second release and used that to extend on. Probably 10 years back is when I got one from him.
