I've always be accused of marching to the beat of a different bagpiper. :p

I do like oddball guns, preferably items that most casual shooters haven't heard of always seem to interest me highly.

I found a relatively nice, antique 24ga shotgun today, and contemplated it.

Why, in most circles, 28 and 16 gauges are considered downright uncommon. Many gunshops I've been to lately don't even bother stock 16ga shells! Forget about anything "odd."

The thread about the 7.5 Swedish Nagant revolver made me think about the odd stuff I...lost in the boat accident.

I have a replica Winchester 1876 in 40-60 Winchester. I love it. I have a Remington Model 700 BDL in 300 Savage. Very under rated deer cartridge.

My beloved 35 Remington is getting there...
Love a 16 ga.

Have reduced to mostly common stuff as of late with all the ammo scare/shortage. I guess the 22 LR is becoming "ODD" to find in a store now. :D

16 Gauge, the best bird shotgun I've ever shot. I have a 70 plus yr old Ithaca double, hands down the best bird shooting gun I've ever owned.

I have a 16 gauge I inherited and ammo is indeed scarce. It can be found but not an abundant supply.

I once owned a Colt Army Special in .41 LC, a Winchester 1907 in .35 WSL, a Winchester 43 in .218 Bee, a Remington derringer in .41 RF, Savage 99's in .22 Savage Hi-Power and .303 Savage. I still own a Remington 700 in .17 Remington. Odd-ball stuff rocks as long as you can find ammo for them.

Here are the .32/20's I owned a few years ago and swapped for a CZ 527 in .222 Remington. .222 is not so common here anymore.

I gave this to my brother, as he did not own a small caliber, center fire sporter rifle and I had CZ's in .223, .22 Hornet, 7.62x39mm.

218 Bee
250 Savage
300 Savage
303 Savage
257 Roberts
32-20
7.62x25
20 gauge 2.5"
32 short
38 Colt
These are a few of the odd ones I can think of that I have to contend with.

When one of my 303 Savages arrived at my local dealer, he was looking it over and I asked him if he had any ammunition for it. He looked at me and said ""Do I have any? Heck! I've never seen any!"

I don't know about where you are, but lately, a 22 LR has become quite the oddball around here.

Finding factory ammo in .25-20 is almost impossible around here

Also have an old Colt DA revolver that was designed for a .45 rimmed cartridge. Luckily I have a few moon clips for it so I can use .45acp

My long gone Stevens 311a SxS 16 ga. double w/ 26" mod/full bbls was the best bird gun I have ever had period. Many fond memories.I got in a tight for money when I was a young man and it went away. I've often considered trying to find another one. But, it would never be THAT one. :(

Model 94 in .25-35 was my deer rifle, .218 Bee was my turkey rifle when I was a kid. Both long gone.:(
What's funny is that I still have my Mohawk in .222....and ammo's pretty scarce for that too.

I'd love to see pictures of the Stevens 425. Also, the guys at the savage subforum of 24hourcampfire.com would probably like to get some information from you. There weren't very many made, and I believe they are trying to log serial number ranges to get an idea of how many.

Until it was stolen in a burglary, I had a custom Ackley .30-06 built on a Mauser action, given to me by my father-in-law. I still have the dies and a few boxes of ammunition. The ammo tested out at over 3200fps, with a very flat and consistent trajectory. At 100 yards, it would put three-shot groups through the same hole!
