Hi All,
I know there are a number of LEOs on this forum. There was a Rockdale County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed in the line of duty Saturday afternoon. Here are the news articles and Officer Down Memorial Page:

Rockdale Citizen - RCSO deputy killed
Rockdale News - Deputy killed in line of duty identified
Officer Down Memorial Page

Funeral arrangments were just announced for this Deputy today, they are listed on the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office web site.

There was orignially not going to be a procession, however I just got notice that there would be from Scott Ward Funeral Home to First Baptist Church of Conyers. I don't have a definate route at this time.

This is a very close knit community and the first officer down in any current resident's lifetime. I am posting this for those that live in Georgia and surrounding areas that may be able to attend the procession route.

Thank you goes out to all of you officers that put your lives on the line every day!! The citizens cannot say thank you enough for what you do.

Cheers,
Sam

My sympathies to the family of the Officer. Any officer knows the job is dangerous, the risks are many and they still put their lives on the line for little pay and seldom are they appreciated.

R.I.P. my Brother.

Rockdale County is just about 40 mins from me. I spoke to the Sheriff yesterday...this is truly sad.
RIP Deputy Mahaffey, may God Bless your family and friends....

May god bless his family and friends .

What a terrible loss . . . and what a horrible Mother's Day memory for the slain deputy's wife and their two young children to have to face for the rest of their lives.

I'll keep the family in my prayers.

Tom

Prayers for the family and gratitude to the Deputy for his ultimate sacrifice. A sad sad Mother's Day indeed.

Rest in Peace my brother in arms. Prayers for the family, his friends, co-workers for peace and strength during this challenging time.

There were several of us on a bridge overlooking I-20 waiting on the procession for Deputy Mahaffey. Prior to the procession several agencys had a rolling road block coming into Conyers for the service. I was able to get a couple of pics as they came in.

Finally here is a video of the procession as it crosses the bridge:

It brought a tear to my eye to watch the video, just a warning!!

LEOs stay safe!! Thank you for your service!!

Cheers,
Sam
