Stopped by the gun store yesterday for one of two things. Either a 9mm Shield or a M&P9c. The Shield is for my wife and the 9c would have been mine.

I go over to the case and what do I see? 3 shiney (ok they're black) Shields. So I buy one because I hadn't shot one yet. Get the paperwork done and out the door I went. While waiting on the NICS check I start looking in the Ruger case and there was 2 SR9c. One two tone and one all black. NICS comes back clean and I leave.

I made it 3 blocks and my wife calls. I tell her that I got the Shield and then told her about the Ruger and she asks "Well did you buy it also? If not, go get it."

So I turn around and have to do a second round of paper work. My first gun buying experience and all went well. Now if only I had the forethought to get them at the same time and only do the paperwork once....lol

I've got the Sr9 and I love it. It's smoothe, easy to operate, and fun to shoot. Read the manual for assembly and disassembly. I screw it up every time and get all angry when I dry fire it and look in the manual and see... Oh, yeah, I forgot to do that part... And it works fine again, every single time

Did you get the two tone or all black? I personally think the two tone looks a lot better, so I got two tone

I got the two tone. For no other reason than you just said....it looks better.

Question for you. Went to the range today and at about round 60-70 the trigger started to hang up on the reset. I either had to pull the trigger a second time to get it to reset or a couple times I had to manually flick it forward to reset after firing.

I'm not too worried about it yet since today was the first time shooting it. Only ran 100 rounds through it. Did you experience this issue as well? I brought it home and cleaned it. Thats all I've done so far.

That isn't a problem that I've had. Did you clean it really well before taking it to the range? If not it may have gotten gummed up with all that mess of stuff they sometimes ship them with. Hopefully you have the same good luck that I've had with mine.

OldsRocket,
Is this your first experience with shooting or is this just your first purchase?

Prior to this the only thing I have shot was a 22 rifle when i was in my teens. So not a lot of shooting experience. Yes, this was my first purchase.

After reading here and a couple other forums I'm thinking this may be the case. I didn't clean it first. Pretty much went from the case to the range.

I asked because there are many things that might cause your trigger issue; lack of experience could be one.

The Shield should be cleaned before being shot the first time, but it is unlikely that it was dirty enough to cause the problem you describe. It honestly sounds like the trigger is too tight. However, that is also unlikely. I would love to see the gun in person.
