So I just dropped off my application to the Summit County Sheriff!

I was just wondering what the processing times have been for folks in general, and of course in Ohio. I realize they have 45 days to respond, but I am assuming that it rarely goes the full 45.

Just curious.

I live in Guernsey cty.,ohio. Renewed mine a year or two ago. Don't think it took 45 days, maybe two weeks, but I imagine every county is different.

I think my last renewal in 2013 took around a week or less. This is in Putnam County in NW Ohio, which is lightly populated; so it may take longer in urban areas.

Regards,
Andy

It took me about an hour to get my LTCF renewed this past March...

Twenty minutes talking to the courthouse guard, thirty talking to the sheriff, three getting my LTCF renewed, and seven more talking to the guard again.

The first time I got it, it took about 10 minutes max.

It is important to know that in Ohio, you can submit in the county of residence or any adjacent county. I live in Delaware county and had been told that they take several weeks, up to a couple of months. Fortunately, I live adjacent to Franklin County, which has a great system for processing paperwork:

I made an appointment for a Thursday afternoon at 2PM, took in my photos and cash, got fingerprinted, and was told that they would be in touch.

Friday morning at 9:30 AM, I received a call to pick up my License.

So, in my case, it took 19 hours.

I submitted my app online at 7pm on 6/24/14. My permit was active on 7/29 and I had my permit in hand on 8/2.

This is Illinois btw.

In Montgomery county Ohio, I dropped my application off on a Friday, and was called Monday saying I could pick it up..........

Thanks for all the responses. I'm just looking forward to having it in hand!

In New Hampshire they have 10 days to approve or deny....and if denied they have to state why....no little King Chiefs in this state!

I took advantage of that and went to Lake County as I heard that Cuyahoga County (with Cleveland being a big part of that) might take longer - and would have had it within an hour or so had the computer system been more cooperative - so I left a self addressed stamped envelope and was a bit surprised to see it in the mail the very next day.

They are allowed 120 days in Nevada. Word is the volume of applications and short staffing in various agencies means they are using most of it.:(

Kawabonga, Buffalo Bob! I would not have believed that of Illinois! In St. Louis County the initial endorsement took about ten days three years ago. I just renewed it a couple weeks ago. When I got there, just after 8 am, I put enough quarters in the meeter to cover an hour. I left the parking spot with 40 mins on the meter. Everything done while I waited. I was surprised to say the least.

For the Missourians on the forum remember that we don't have the license endorsement now, it's a permit and everything is done at the sheriffs office.

It actually impressed me too. The ISP has 90 days to issue a permit with prints. I really expected them to wait until the 89th day. It has went fairly smoothly for the majority of IL residents. There are a few that have had problems and of course some lawsuits. It's getting better though and will be right eventually.

It has certainly made IL a more tolerable place to live.

I had a rather singular renewal experience in Oklahoma. I sent my application to the OSBI along with the two required passport photos and authorization to take the fee from my credit card. The credit card charge was posted in late May 2013. My license expired in mid-July, and I was rapidly approaching the end of the grace period when I called on Thursday, August 8th, and left a voicemail on the OSBI SDA line asking about my renewal. I left the date that my application had been received at OSBI and the date my credit card had been charged and requested a current status. On Friday the 9th, I got a voicemail advising me that my license had been renewed and that I should receive it within 10 business days. However, on Monday, August 12, my new license arrived by express mail postmarked August 10. My guess is that it fell through the cracks on someone's desk until my call. My next renewal won't be due until August 11, 2018.
