Ohio (and other States) CCW Processing time

I live in Polk County IA which contains the state capitol and a high population. I've had my CCW since 2001 when we were a may issue state. Renewal back then took 3 days. In 2010 we became a shall issue state and the Polk County sheriff was unhappy about losing his discretion. So now they take the full 30 days allowed by law even though they don't need the time. It's a stupid retaliation for a shall issue law they don't like, but at least we get 5 yr. permits now.

It is important to know that in Ohio, you can submit in the county of residence or any adjacent county. I live in Delaware county and had been told that they take several weeks, up to a couple of months. Fortunately, I live adjacent to Franklin County, which has a great system for processing paperwork:

I made an appointment for a Thursday afternoon at 2PM, took in my photos and cash, got fingerprinted, and was told that they would be in touch.

Friday morning at 9:30 AM, I received a call to pick up my License.

So, in my case, it took 19 hours.

Same here. I live in Delaware County but used Franklin since I'm in downtown Columbus a lot anyway. It took a week to get an appointment, but once I dropped off the paperwork it only took a day to get my CHL renewed.

Well for the record - Summit County Ohio takes three business days to approve CCW.

I got the call at the end of the day telling me I was approved. I won't be picking it up until Friday afternoon because of the 3pm cut off time but it's there waiting!

So I just dropped off my application to the Summit County Sheriff!

I was just wondering what the processing times have been for folks in general, and of course in Ohio. I realize they have 45 days to respond, but I am assuming that it rarely goes the full 45.

Just curious.

When I got my CCW 5 years ago, I stopped by the county sheriff's office after making an appointment, had my picture taken, filled out the paperwork for the background check and had my fingerprints taken.
I had my permit 24 hours later.

I dropped off my papers and photo on a Fri after work and Mon morning they called me to pick up my permit. That was in Mahoning county.
