Our new Governor, John Kasich, just signed into law the bar/restaurant CCW law, Senate Bill 17 (Ohio's Restaurant & Car Carry Rules Fix law) and House Bill 54 (Restoration of Rights).

Note that this doesn't go into effect for 90 days.

Thanks Gov. Kasich, and the Congessmen and Senators that made this happen!

Thanks for doing what you said you would do, and for being the Governor that many of us voted for.

Wow, I'm amazed it finally passed, but heck yeah!!! It's a little late for me to take full advantage (I used to pull security and grunt work for a local band), but this is a great step ahead for our rights.

What exactly are the automobile regulations that are included? I hope it's the one that if stopped you must inform the officer that you are armed. It's easy for us from across the river to forget to do so.

I'll post more later but one of the main features of the auto regulations is that you no longer have to have the weapon secured in a holster or closed in a box (in plain sight) or in a locked box or vehicle compartment.

Now the gun can be off your person, out of the holster, for example on the seat, and it's not a violation.

The people responsible for this happening were Ohioians For Concealed Carry and Buckeye Firearms Association and others including Nikki Goesler from Tennesee.
I'll hold my love for the Governor and most representatives until they prove that they do something out of respect for the constitution and not the almighty vote.
We will still have to inform after Oct. 1 when this law takes effect.

fonejak: couldn't agree with you more and should have attributed most of the success to these groups.

Regarding restaurant carry, that's a no-brainer. Twice in the last week I had to leave my gun in the car just to enter two different restaurants to order and pick up take-out.

And at a funeral in Virginia this past week for my mother-in-law, had some long discussions with some cousins from Boston and Maryland. They'd be glad to have groups as effective as Ohioans for Concealed Carry & BFA)
