OK BOXES,what about BOXES

Yesterday I worked a deal on a 4 screw Model 29 that came with a presentation box, but not the wooden ones I've seen. This one was a black vinyl covered one. It was in rough shape; the inside lining was deteriorating and the outside looked mildewed.

I've never seen one of these. Any information?

^^^^^^^^

Cool box, I haven't seen a K-22 box that dark colored before.
I have 2 from the late '50's or 1960 that are lighter blue, with the "S&W" logo on the end...

and another.

... and I have seen K-38 boxes that shade of blue...

A member here has a box like your with RED metal corners. They used what they had on hand I guess.

Good thread, glad to see it's still alive.

I don't go to many rummage sales, but 2 days ago I found 2 Colt Trooper MkIII boxes at a yard sale. (I know, this is a S&W forum.) They gave them to me, no charge. I have not yet decided if I will keep them, (just in case I would find/buy a couple of Colts, or if I will sell them.
I know that I was amazed at the price of S&W boxes when I was looking for one for my 28-2 blued 4" several months ago.

Here's one for my pre 29 from early 1957. These are getting very pricey...upwards of $500 for the case & tools.

The color inside is the same, not two-tone as it looks. Lighting did something.

Yes AirCommando, that looks like it, although mine is in much rougher shape and the tools are not present. Thank you!

Speaking of boxes....just when did S&W get away from the blue card-board boxes for their revolvers? I have a Model 65-3 with a card-board box and I have a 65-6 that needs a box. Which one is it? Is it card-board or plastic? I would like to find a box for the 65-6.

Dating 22 Combat Masterpiece blue boxes

I just got the brownish box on the left. It dates from 1954, and my blue one is from 1957.

I assume they started putting the warranty in the bottom of the box in 1955. I haven't heard of a 1953 blue box for a K frame, so I would think a 1954 box is a one year only!

Maybe someone on this thread can tell me what these two boxes might be worth.

The first is to a Model 41 which I sold a while back and just came across the box. I didn't remember I had it! The box is in fair shape but has the insert (for the 7-3/8 barrel w muzzle break), the instruction manual/parts diagram and the cleaning rod. ca: 1973

The second box is for a Model 37 in Nickel that was shot with +p and the frame cracked. S&W replaced it (for a very nominal fee) with a 642. The box has all the paperwork, pamphlets, wrapping and tools and is in very nice shape. Instruction sheet dated August, 1978. (I also have the original grips and a set of S&W "boot grips" for the M37 that are Goncalo Alves and very nice.

Can anyone show me what the box for a Model 10-5 looks like and what came in the box? I only have the gun and would like to make it as close a set as I can.

10-5 box

Here is one I just acquired. There may be some other brochure for ammo or holsters I think, but this is how the box is.

Cool Airweight Box

I acquired this box along with the 10-5 box I posted awhile back. According to SCSW it is from 1961. Don't know why it had a helpful hints brochure with it, but the Model 12 instruction sheet is really neat!:)

I hear those red instruction sheets are kind of scarce. That sheet alone may be worth $20.

Help With S&W Box

Hope someone can help with info on this box. It came with a K 22 Outdoorsman circa 1935, but I have never seen a box like this. It is a hard plastic of some kind and fairly heavy. I could not find one like this in any of my books or on the Web. There are no markings except for the S&W logo on the front. I put a later K22 in the box for size reference. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

It looks like a salesman's sample case. Looks like it is in good shape. If it is for the K22, it would be nice if the gun is the sample! They should stay together.
