I had made up my mind on the 15 22, after reading all the problems that some of you shooters are having, maybe the other one is the one to go with, really confused here. i have not bought either one yet, the sr-22 or the m&p 15 22 ??????????????????????????????????????????????
I really don't want to have to send a new gun back even before it has been shot....HELP

15 22

I have fired about 4000 rounds through mine and other than the occasional mag snag mine works well.tThe only trouble I had was the barrel coming loose and I made a tool and tightened it myself. I like the gunalot and it is ablast to shoot.

I did a lot of reading and agonising before buying my 15-22. Got to shoot it for the first time on Saturday. Only thing I can say is "I wish I had got one sooner"
So far not a hiccup with it's operation.

[lang=tl]For me it's the 15-22. I was gonna get the Colt M4 or the SR-22 but a friend of mine beat me to it. Now he wish that he waited for the 15-22 :D[/lang]

For every problem rifle there's a thousand happy shooters that have no reason to complain. GET it ENJOY it and don't look back.

Like any product you reviewed on-line there will be more negative reviews than positive. Generally, one is pissed off because something didn't work as it should and decieded to take out their frustrations on the keyboard, and another trys to solve the problem by asking people with experience on forums. Some post good reviews but alot of satisfied customers don't right reviews at all. There's some bad reviews even on this forum but the majority of them come from worries when the rifle first came out. Scower the forum and you'll find a solution to any problem you can think of. For everyone that had a bad experience w/ the 15-22 there's at least 2 or 3 that have had a good one. I did the same thing your doing, searching information before you buy, and I, like may here, am happy w/ my decision. To get the best bang for your buck make sure it has a flash hider and and the latest serial number you can find. If it's a later sn don't worry about the blue springs. Some of us have 'em, some don't, I don't, and mine has worked fine.

Just buy it. If it has a problem then Smith will fix it. Then you will love it. Mine had the ejector problem after only 13 rounds. I was upset at the time but when I got home and saw how easy it was to fix I was back to shooting in less than 30 minutes. I do have the original mags and one of them gives me a problem once in a while but it's not a self defense weapon so one hiccup out of a couple hundred rounds doesn't bother me too much.

Get the 15-22 and buy yourself a scope or red dot. You can work on dressing it up after that. Getting on target is more important than filling the rails.

I fired over 1000 rnds through my 15-22 last weekend with just two FTFs. The gun is a blast to shoot! Mine came with the FS and had all the up grades that are talked about on the forum(Blue springs). Used bulk Federal ammo bought at Cabellas. You will love the gun.

It's a fun gun and if you do have problems S&W will make it right. Mine (or should I say my girlfriends.. since she's decided it's hers now) shoots very well and aside from a mag-snag and a couple of F-T-Ejects every 5 or 6 hundred rounds, it's perfect... even with its older style gray springs.

A JP spring kit and some surface polishing is in the near future to improve the trigger a bit :)

I would recommend the 15-22 any day.

Bought my 15-22 3 months ago and have fired more than 12,000 rounds with no issues. I'm lucky to live out in the country so I shoot every day after work at least a couple hundred rounds. It is my favorite firearm and a ton of fun to shoot. Have taught my wife and daughter to shoot it and they like it too.
I have no regrets about my purchase and am considering buying another one so I don't have to share trigger time with wife and daughter!

If you want a light weight AR platform then the 15-22 is the way to go.

The SR22 mimics the AR platform dimensions, but the controls nor trigger group are AR.

I have 16k+ rounds through my 15-22. It works real well. I haven't shot the SR22, but being that it's basically a 10-22... my guess is that it feeds a wide array of ammo without as many hiccups and is probably more accurate than the 15-22.

If you like both, buy both. :)

I have put over 1000 rounds through mine in the 3-4 weeks I have owned it. The only issue I had was 2 dud rounds and 1 mag snag. I was like you too and was agonizing over the purchase, but I bit the bullet and went for it. It was definitely worth it. Wish I could take it out more.

BUY IT! You will love it. I have put about 750 rounds through it over the past two Saturdays and have used CCI Mini Mags, Winchester Super-X Hollow Points and Aguila . I had a crap load of FTFs and FTEs the first Saturday, but that was due to my ignorance of not cleaning it before taking it out for the first time. I guess the "new tacti-cool rifle" syndrome got the best of me. Mine came with the upgraded springs and 2nd gen magazine, I bought another magazine at the Nellis Base Exchange. It is the 1st gen, and I have the most trouble out of that one. If you call one FTF out of the 25 rds I put through it trouble. As someone else mentioned, it's not a home self-defense weapon. Although, I think a burglar would sh#t his britches if he saw me coming down the stairs with it!!!

Well all I can say is since I got mine my other four .22 rifles haven't been out of the safe.

Ain't gonna happen. S&W won't fix something that isn't broken.

Mine has been boringly reliable with Winchester 333 bulk. And first generation magazines.

I got about 5000 rounds through mine. Once I figured out how to properly load the mag, mag snags are no more. Mine shoots almost anything. Remmingtons just dont work well. I love mine. My buddy has the Colt. Its a pretty good rifle, but the accuracy is less than that of the Smith and Wesson, or he just cant shoot. The internals of the Colt do not allow for easy cleaning like the Smith and Wesson. The barrel of the colt is comparable to a BB gun. I like them both, but chose he Smith because it was a hundred bucks cheaper and well built to mil specs. Its the O'l Ford vs Checy thing. Make your choice and never look back. I love mine, and have had zero problems. I do not own a lot of personal guns (4) but have worked with many. I like this one the most because now I have to buy my own rounds. In the past, I could go to the range and shoot a few hundred rounds at tax payer expence, but those days are over. I like being able to shoot 550 round for just over 18 bucks. As a trainer and a plinker the MP15-22 is a great choice. I have never doubted my purchase. I am a happy customer.
