Newest S&W I own or want is my pre lock 24-3 4" that is now my go to carry piece, I'll pass on the newer ones , just an old school opinionated old fart as my late wife used to call me.

A gun I can use to compare is my 686-4 vs the new 686. I good friend recently purchased a " new " 686. On his private range, I have handled and shot it several times. I don't own any "new" Smiths, but if I wanted a 686 like his, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to purchase one. IL ?? I've never thought it to be a legitimate deterrent.
