I would like to hear from those who own, collect,. or looking for the old 10mm modeis whether their value has dropped since all the new 10mm guns on the market including the new smith 10mm's. I have a 1086 I am thinking of selling but am afraid I missed the boat of their peak value.

I dont think the 10xx pistols have declined in value - there were not that many made (only 1660 of your 1086) - and to many they are still preferred over more recent 10s.

Check 1086 sales on GB (if you can find any) - more likely you can find a 1006 or 1076 but those will be low compared to a 1086 unless the 1076 has FBI pedigree.

Your 1086 will always be a valuable and desirable firearm. It was built back when 10mm had a lot more punch than the common weakened/neutered boxed ammo we have today. The modern guns have to be modified to handle 'hot' ammo, yours doesn't...like every all-stainless 3rd Gen, it's built like a tank.
I'd sell the car instead:D

In my opinion the S&W 3rd gen 10mm’s are hard to beat. I have other brands of 10mms but I cherish my S&W 3rd gen 10mms. I have the 1006, 2 LNIB 1026’s, 1046, 2 1066’s, LNIB 1076 & a 1086! It would be a very difficult decision for me to sale any of my S&W 3rd gen 10mm’s.

Hope you continue to enjoy your 1086!

Cheers!!!
David

The price is only going up. Some of the 1006 sellers don't understand that the 1086,1066 and a true 1076 FBI Lettered pistol are worth the big bucks. The 1006 with box and papers are still worth $1000 but not the $1500 or more that I see some of the 1006 that are in the auction sites. I am still looking for.a 1066 with box and papers and will never be able to afford the 1046 unless I win the Lotto.
If your 1086 has the box it should still go for $1500 at least IMO

I don't follow or collect the 3rd Gen S&W 10mm pistols, but I have a good friend who does. From what he tells me, the demand for these pistols has steadily been on an upward curve and prices, understandably, continue to climb.

They are S&W gold, IMOHO. 1086 is a super DAO performer. Mine has the best DAO trigger of any DAO handled.

Keep, don't sell. It will not go down in value, you haven't missed the peak.

The LGS knows that when I kick the bucket, the old lady will be bringing the herd by for them to consign. That is if I don't offer them up here beforehand..

No hole 610, 310NG both highly desirable too! 1046 and 310NG are the only 2 that escaped me so far...
