I had one of those with a Vaver Rear Sight. Good gun. Was called "A poor mans 52" back in the 30's-40's.
A guy before me snatched one of those up right in front of me at the gun store but brought it back the next day. This time, noone beat me to it. Love that rifle! What ever happened to the blue steel and walnut .22's? Most of the modern stuff might shoot well, but they leave me cold.
My old Mossberg shown below is a very accurate rifle, with a trigger that always brings a smile.

I have a Savage 416 U.S. PROPERTY trainer that was used at the local rifle club back in the 60's. My dad was the instructor and the club actually started the club up over the bank, a second floor. I remember shooting them at the National Guard Armory, big heavy rifles for a young kid. This was in dads closest, and when I tore it down this spring I found his name under the butt plate, like all his guns. Don't know a lot about them.
Any info would be great.
