Old shooter thread!

No. Not you. I know your an old shooter.

An older revolver that you have for a "daily driver". One that you don't worry about wearing a little blue off of or dingin' the stocks.

Safe queens need not apply, and I'd like to see some with original stocks that have a chip & a worn righthand panel. Just in the mood for old S&W's used for what they were intended for.

My revolver that fits the bill is my pre 36 snub nose 5 screw that is about a 92% gun.

My semi auto that fits the bill and is my carry gun is a Swiss Police trade in P228 with Swiss markings ( hope your not upset with an image of a semi auto)

Nope Art a semi is fine! I have a Sig P6 that's got about half blue and half in-the-white.

Somebody has worked on a set of combats on the flatlatch J frame!

In a sense, they are all shooters, with just a couple of exceptions. But here are the ones that other people might retire -- not me!

A Model of 1902/First that shipped in 1904.

A couple of early '30s Heavy Duty revolvers. One of these is on guard duty in my desk.

A .32-20 M&P from 1915. (Renickeled, and with some small pieces like the ejector rod and thumb piece that must have wandered in from some other gun; good bore and action, though.)

There are also some shooter grade guns that i haven't actually shot yet (No time! ), including a .455 Triple Lock that was converted to .45 Colt and a Prewar .22/32 Kit Gun that a previous owner dressed up with improved target sights. There is also a Safety Hammerless from about 1907 that is nothing to look at, but it's tight and still properly timed. As soon as I get some .38 S&W ammo, that one is in for some exercise.

Pretty and aristocratic revolvers are fine, but the knockabout guns in go-out-and-get-the-job-done condition are equally attractive in my eyes.

This is a 10-1 that I adopted with non original target stocks.

My 1958 no dash model 38 fits the bill. It's worn around the edges and the bluing's not perfect. It's in my pocket now....but with more pocket friendly and less expensive grips on it.

In order to show my daily driver, the one that gets carried most and shows it I hope you'll allow this old 1970 Cobra.
It has the most wear and is in my pocket right now. Most all of my S&W's get treated better and show it. This old piece takes the beating.

Just to keep the post S&W Kosher I'll add my oldest woods bummin' .22. A 1952 pre 18.

Ah, just the thread for my bargain blaster's! Both of these in 38 special were reblued includeing the trigger's and hammer's.The 1905 4th is of 1940-41 vintage and the five inch M&P is mid 50's. Both are great shooter's and seeing how they have reblued they get shot a lot.

Pre Model 40

This one is a real working gun, custom grips, pawn shop engraved and shortened barrel. Also re chambered to 357 Mag. I am dragging this one out for my good friend Thom Braxton to see again. I found this one at Tulsa a few years back. It was a walk in on Sunday PM.

That's what matters. I like my guns in high condition, like anybody does. But, a good old carry gun that you've put thousands of rounds through and fits you like an old glove is a pleasure to own indeed.

Colt, Ruger, Smith or semi-auto, we've all got one or two that gets to go along no matter what.

People who don't appreciate a fine trigger on an old gun you can sight like pointing a finger miss out on a lot of fun, I say.

One of my very favorite guns in the collection and one that sees a lot plinking and field use is this late vintage .32-20 Hand Ejector.

This one looks better in the photo than in real life. A Model 17 K-22 owned since new. It has seen more shooting use than any other firearm in the collection.

This Model 15-3 from the 1960s is gratifying to shoot on the range.

.38 HE Mod 1905 2nd Change

This is one of my favorite shooters with 148 gr W/C's. My wife bought it for me "cause she thought I'd like it"!!
She might have been right.
