If any member owns or knows the whereabouts of the S&W 2nd Model American, s/n 21418, please contact me. This revolver has significant Old West history and needs to be located / documented as to both past and present ownership. I will provide contact info concerning the historical importance of this revolver to the owner, in hopes that the owner and the researcher now working on this project can get the story out.

Thanks,

Davd, Chuck Parsons, C.B.Wilson & I have looked for this gun for some time, with no luck so far. I know it's great wild west history in the Sutton-Taylor Feud in Texas, involving John Wesley Hardin, etc. and is identified by serial number in the Texas court trial of Bill Taylor for murdering Bill Sutton , March 11,1874, and the gun's alledged history goes back to Ellsworth, Kansas, when Wyatt Earp was acting Marshall and the Texas trail hands of the outfits of the Thompsons, Suttons, Taylors, Pierce's etc. often "treed" the town. That's a pretty early date for a 2nd model American to have made it to Ellsworth, so that part of the legend may be fantasy. It would be a great find if it should show up in a member's collection! I think i know what gun it is but since you sounded so cryptic I won't mention it here. A hint would be "Indianola". This kind of stuff interests me to no end and I hope you find it and tell the whole story here. Isn't Hardin's S&W he shot Webb with in the Gene Autry museum? That's another great one. Good luck with your search.
