Did not want to step on the 2020 Vette thread so I started this one.:D

Just got back from a hour shakedown run. Do to health issues my Vette went away in early Oct. I had knee surgery in May 2019 and could not get in and out of the Vete so it sat in garage. Had surgery and then went into rehab and with a little effort could get in/out Vette. Then as luck would have it took a spill while walking along the road into a small culvert and seriously re torqued some muscles,(back and ribs) could not use Vette again. Had my son bring into garage and we covered it up and put the tender on.

Uncovered Vette today and pulled tender and went to drop top with fob. Nope everything else on the fob worked and I had put in a new battery last year during the short time I could drive it.

Got into car, it was not too bad, way better than I thought it would be, in fact just about normal. Stared it and backed it outside, tried the inside top down button but no dice. Then I remembered my buddies C6 the top would not move and I had him raise the windows and then try the top button, that worked.

So I did that with mine as I had the windows down under the car cover, thats the way I do it. Garage is under house and tight and no mouse problem. That worked, first it dropped windows then top did its thing. Everything else appears to be OK during the drive.:):)

Good on ya, Lakesider.

Had my second knee surgery last April and, while I was walking considerable distances right away, it’s finally starting to feel normal recently.

So far, I’m staying out of culverts!

!

Good for you.:)

I could walk OK after a period but trying to maneuver (AKA Bend) a 5'11'' 260# 74 year old inside a little Vette was rather interesting,

Yes note to self stay away from culverts!:D

Our Sunday drive car was a 2004 Mustang GT convertible manual trans. Only had 25,000 miles and was close to perfect. Bought it in 2012.

2017 my wife was walking across the hospital parking lot on a rainy morning to get some tests done. She slipped on loose gravel, fell and broke her knee, tibia plateau if I remember correctly. Driving a stick became a problem so I traded the stang for a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK 4 door. Easy in and out and fun for old farts. Got a great trade in, too.

Gone but not forgotten

Glad you guys are on the mend.
Here's a vette that's not fairing so well after it's owner's knees had problems. Initially, it lived in the garage, but now awaits some love, outside under a tarp. It's my cousin's husband's car in Newport News.

We took ours (2006) out for our first drive of the year today also. Can still get in and out just fine. Visited a few of our local cemeteries for Memorial Day coming up. Was nice to have a few extra ponies up front.

Debating whether to sell my 2015...

...Corvette now to give the new buyer a summer to enjoy it or wait til the new one arrives so I can enjoy it a bit longer.

BTW, mine is a very rare combination of colors and options as per Corvette production stats. Color is Night Race Blue (VERY dark blue) with black top. Interior is the 3LT trim in Kalahari. (Kalahari color resembles peanut butter.) Has Z51 performance package, carbon fiber dash, and other options.

The C7 generation was the best, IMHO, to date. Hope the C8 generation is its equal...at least.

Be safe...be well.

CORVETTE

Corvette remains my dream car . Will be until i have 1 or God has me permanently ! kenny;)

Was 26yo when I got my first, a new '72. Now, at 72yo my C6 is a little more difficult to get in and out of but I love it, living in the south I use it year round.

Nice wheels ya got.
Agree it's too bad about that car. He's been an accumulator his whole life, and when his collection pushed the car out of the garage, he couldn't overcome the hoarding urge and let it go. Nature may eventually turn it into a planter
