Not really from the "Heart" of Texas, but the sky is clear, and eclipse is visible and underway. The local schools are set up just down the road, and lots of folks out looking in spite of the wind and chilly temp.

Just had to get up for this!

That was neat and very clear. I got my wife up to view. She said I was nuts.

That ties right in with that thread on men ands women having different senses of humor. Getting to see something so seldom seen means very little to most women I guess. That is why I read all those articles in Playboy.

It is about as dark as it is gonna get right now.. A neat happening. Moon is getting low on the horizon now... Be below the mountains pretty soon.

You actually READ Playboy? Other than the cartoons? I was looking at your post time 7:25--The red moon went down at 6:50 where I am with a thin line of light on the bottom due west and a few degrees north.

I wasn't going to bother to take pictures but I couldn't resist, since I only had to walk out into my driveway. Taken with my Panasonic FZ1000 on a tripod at ISO800 and various shutter speeds, and resized. Click on the pics for larger version.

It's still showing here but getting low down on the mountains...about 90 miles northwest of us...up in Montana. Sky is getting lighter too.

Course I "read" Playboy. Didn't every red blooded 'merican boy. I did like that treatise on little Annie Fannie. They didn't want to post her pitcher in the magazine so they had a good artist draw her so she wouldn't be embarassed. I woulda liked to have "met" her. LOL

It was nice to have seen this lunar happening. You can see all the pictures but it isn't quite the same as in real life... I even took the 7 YO granddaughter and her mother out to see it. Hopefully she will remember.

We stepped out back at work this morning to check it out. One of my coworkers asked when it was supposed to "turn blue."

I had to gently explain to her that blue moon is a colloquialism for a second full moon in a calendar month.

Here's your sign . . .
