In Catch-22, Curt Vonnegut's classic, there is an army officer whose is Major Major Major. The character was Major Major by birth, his parents having a sense of humor, but after he enlists the Army eventually gave up, and promoted him to major to avoid annoying real majors when the junior officers wanted to cuss him out. If I recall correctly, there is also a guy in there whose first two names are "Bonely Nonely" 'cause his birth certificate is "B. (only) N. (only) Smith," or some surname like that.
It's also funny when in a foreign language a name means something unexpected. I have Japanese friend who was stationed in Ryadh. When he first got there he noticed that everyone would snicker when he introduced himself. He was puzzled, but later learned that his surname, in Arabic, referred to female private parts.... Don't think he changed what he called himself, so I guess he just got used to it.
