How many practice this? What works best for you?

I know methods depend on which arm or hand is rendered useless. But the results should be the same. ;)

I drop the mag and put the gun back in the holster. Then I grab the spare mag and insert it. Then I rack the slide using my belt.

I REALLY hope I never have to do this for real!!:o

First off I commend you on putting forth the effort to train for it, many don't.

There are several techniques used, putting the gun back in the holster, into the waistband or even kneeling down and trapping the gun between the thigh and calf all work but as you stated all depends on the situation.

I have a spare mag for my CZ 75 in an ankle holster. The mag sits upright so the move is to shove the pistol right down on top and the elastic that holds the mag stretches enough to free it. Took some practice and it will probably skin my ankle if I have to do it for real, but it works and it's quick. I started with an Ace Bandage, then got a ankle mag holder made.

Sorry, these mag things dont fit in my revolver :)
You could reload by putting the gun in your
armpit, wasteband, belt , pocket, holster or
between your knees. One handed with my speedloader
works best in myarmpit. Dont forget to find a technique
to rack the slide like your shoe heel, armpit, belt or
something.
gl and have fun

you ran your primary dry ...
draw the bug ...
you ran it dry too ...
now its time for a primary reload.
if you run it dry again, beat em with it.
if that don't work do a web search for Chuck Noris's phone number.
if your adversary IS Chuck Noris ... your soul better belong to Jesus cause he's sending ya home

I didn't want the BUG to come into play but somebody just HAD to bring it up.

Just so you know, the is always a j frame at hand as a second gun/BUG. But I still practice reloads.

There are so many that don't practice what they preach. I sure as heck ain't going to an early grave because I wasn't prepared!!;)

But I must confess that I have an advantage that most people don't. Having a good friend that owns an indoor range allows me the opportunity to do anything I want within reason as long as I am safe. But before I was allowed to do those things I had to demonstrate the fact that I could do those things safely.

But the most important thing I have learned is what my weaknesses are and where I need to train more.

We have to do a one-handed reload during our semi-annual qualification run with our Sigs. After doing this for over a decade, I think I have it down. Having said that, my daily carry is a Model 19. I have speed loaders for it, but when it comes to a revolver, out comes the bug (LCP)!
