As many of you know, I have a love affair with engraved pinto S&W's. For years I have drooled over the photos of a matched pair of Harry Jarvis engraved 357's that one of our well respected forum members occasionally posted. Well, a little while ago, he graciously agreed to sell them to me - and I am very appreciative...
One of the unique features of these two guns is that they came with the "Blanchard Red Ramp" front sight, that was only used by S&W for a short period in 1952. These two guns were engraved as a pair and shipped in December 1952 to Rex Firearms in NY City.
BTW: I have found that it is much tougher to photo two guns at the same time, rather than just one, so I'm not overly pleased with the photos, but I thought that I'd share them nonetheless.
A few closer-ups...
They came to me in a very nice Marvin Huey custom fitted case:
The stocks are presumed by some of the experts on the forum to have been carved by Alvin White. They letter with the guns and are spectacular pieces of art all by themselves (they are not identical). The first two photos are of one set, while the bottom two photos are of the other set.
1952 Catalog Excerpt on the Blanchard sight:
Somehow these 3.5" pinto engraved guns have taken hold of me and, I cannot seem to shake their grip (or "grips" in this case)...
Thanks for letting me share,
