Interesting Lee, I didn't realize that. Always heard about the Singer being the hardest to find. Thanks for the small education. I have a soft spot for my 1911's.

I think I got this at Tulsa a few years ago and the amazing thing is that it still fits. lee

What a great t-shirt! Never seen one like it. Just the thing for a 1911A1 guy like you.

Singers were actually pre-war and went to the Army Air Corps just before Pearl Harbor. some were issued at Hickham Field, HI on Friday, Dec 5, 1941. lee

I know Singer was awarded their contract in 1939. Or I think I know, okay? Didn't know their production was actually pre-war December of 1941, though. Thanks for that info. It's little details like that that makes the WWII 1911A1s so interesting to me.

We allegedly had a Singer in the arms room at Ft. Meade in 1984. The armorers were reportedly under strict orders never to issue it to anybody. Commander thought it might get "lost."

Saw a shirt at a gun show with a picture of a .45 cartridge and the legend "Old, fat and slow still works every time."
