One of those "extra large" K-38s

I bought this advertised as a 6" K-38 offline. Something's up though, it seems much too large to be a K-38. Should I send it back? I REALLY was wanting a K-38; this gun is nice and all but I think I got buffalo'd

Now that the jokes over, you can see it's a very nice transitional Outdoorsman, all numbers matching even the stocks.

I love the auction sites.

many years ago I bought a K-38 that was tagged as a 5" model 10 w/target sights. I didn't even argue over the $200.00 price on it. smiled all the way home. enjoy. lee

I am unfamiliar with these guns, but in looking them up, I found an interesting article on the Heavy Duty, Outdoorsman, and the 38-44 caliber, which was also unknown to me.

I love it!!-------------------and the gun too.

I once bought one of those .32 Regulation Police Targets made in the late 50's from pre-war parts----------one of the 196. I already had one----------------------------but

The tag said "S&W 22/32---.32 caliber". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!! The gun is as brand new. The price on the tag said $425. They were going for about $2,000 at the time. I picked the gun up, pulled 5 nice new 100 dollar bills out, and stood there---gun in one hand---money in the other. The table tender looked up, and said, "Oh---you want to buy that?" The first response that popped into my mind was, "No, I just want change for the phone.", but I thought better of it. He was probably a pretty nice fellow who was just a little out of his element----or something like that.

And then I was gone-----quickly!!

The sad part of the story is this table tender most certainly made a profit on this deal. That means there's somebody else who was just a little out of their element too---or something like that.

Had a similar deal at a now long gone pawn shop. OD in the case, marked K38, seventy-five dollars. Couldn't pass it up! I think I made twenty bucks when I sold it.

I really like that large "K-38". It must have been a special run for one of their favorite distributors... if so, did you check - it might have one of those special serial numbers... you Know, one that starts with an "S", for "Special".
