How about you post the location of this "range". By doing so you will allow those who have a 500 Magnum or some home cooked super loud rifle loads to ruffel some feathers.

Obviously it has to be a state DNR range because NO private range would ever consider enforcing a rule such as this. In addition only the state could levy a fine this large and have any powers of enforcement to insure you pay that fine. Personally I'd spend the bucks to use a private range, 50 dollars for 6 mounths really isn't that bad.

As for your question about it being harmful to your firearm, without any doubt at all it will increase the rate of wear to the slide stop and notch.

I would pay the 50 bucks to join the other range even if for only 2 months. My mental health is worth that.:D

My club has a 2 second between shots rule but the RO's leave you alone if you are really practicing double taps and not just blasting away.

It's called Echo Point and is in Allegan, MI. It's a dnr owned. I wouldn't doubt they have restrictions on calibers as well.

The indoor range where I shoot the most has a no-double-taps rule for anyone who hasn't been through one of their advanced courses, or otherwise demonstrates they won't put a round into the ceiling. But I'm still amazed at the bullet holes in the ceiling right in front of all the benches.

MD doesn't even have any publicly owned ranges except for trap and skeet. I hope the State gov't doesn't hear about this one-round-in-the-mag concept - they'll try to legislate it at private ranges. It's all for the children here in the People's Republic.

I went to a range in Bristol like that once years ago. Like I said....once.

I'm not a 2 year old, I can handle more than one ropund in a gun safely.

This is still the Dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Exactly my thought but it's free. Was nice just being able to spend time with the girl and pass the gun back and forth without having to buy range time but idk if it's good for the gun.

I think my next step is talking to the local club and seeing if they can work me in a nice deal since I'll only be here in town until Aug.

That sounds like a good plan, Good Luck!

Bristol, near Kenosha WI, only allows one round loaded at a time. For a semiauto, load the magazine. Don't drop the slide on a loaded chamber. That puts too much strain on the extractor. When possible, snap a round into the magazine though the open receiver. That works for bolt actions, ARs and M1As. Drop the magazine for pistols and .22s.

Better yet, find a more reasonable range, like McMillers in Eagle Point.

hhmm how about a 30mile drive and either $10/half hr or $15/hour. I think that is the best I can come up with in the area. Does that sound like a good deal?

My local range. No rapid fire or triple taps. Just double and less. Shooting fast is OK but in sequence not rapid.

That's not to bad & at least you could operate normally, well shooting that is... :D

Yes sorry. Its a free range that I've been going to. All the ranges around my University cost about 50.00 for half a year. I'm only going to be here for 2 more months so I go to the free one. They only allow one round in your mag at a time. They don't have any one supervising but I've seen people get busted with 500.00 fines. Not something I'm willing to risk. So yea I'm new into the gun lingo. What I meant is that after each shot since there is only one round in the mag it locks open after the shot. Seems like this would be bad.

Lol 50.00 for six months not that bad, here we pay 250.00 a year.

State run range near here.
$3 to shoot.
Wait 3 seconds between shots.
I missed the sign, warning the 1st time, then you leave.
bang.....1001..1002.. 1003.....bang
This is how the range master explained it. 8-)

From what I've seen in my area those are reasonable rates. While there is some variation, the clean and well run ranges in the Metro Detroit area generally charge 16-19 dollars per hour. Most of them will also insist that you shoot a quality brand of ammo, such as Federal Champion. However, I have yet to have one require that I purchase my ammo from the range, just ask to see what I'm shooting. As for why they do this, HEPA filters are NOT cheap and filthy shooting ammo plugs up the filters a lot faster than cleaner shooting brands.

i shoot at the police hall of fame in titusville fla. really nice place, nice instructors and no restictions, cept the normal common sense saftey rules.8.00 an hr,and can use your own ammo and targets.eye and ear protection req. you can googgle it and check it out.real nice setup.

Maybe in Michigan. Here I have my pick of several that are 10-15 for unlimited time, no silly restrictions on how many rounds in the cylinder/magazine, allow fast shooting as long as you are being safe and let you use your own ammo and targets.

I guess I shouldnt take it for granted that we have it so good here. I feel sorry for you which have such draconian gun ranges and laws

Again, This is stupid, no one on this earth could make me think otherwise, no matter what the reason.

I think the poll should have been more like, OK with me or Stupid & Dumb

It's not all that Dracoinian, one local range allows me to do unlimited rapid fire shooting when the range is lightly populated. However if I go in when every lane is full and lots of them new shooters they do limit firing to 1 round per second. The simple fact is that a lot of 20 or 30 year olds will try to match or copy a more proficient shooters firing rate before they are ready and that is not safe. Because of this the rules do change depending on who is using the range and I accept that. Having seen some of the range stories on the net I'd rather be safe than shooting at some "free for all". I'll also point out that the ranges I shoot at are all indoor ranges with clean HEPA filtered conditioned air. At that 15 dollar per day rate that you are quoting I'll just bet you are shooting at an outdoor range, something I doubt you spend all day doing at the height of a Tampa Summer day.

Wow! My range is $100 for the year which includes all of my immediate family and I can bring guests. Aside from all the outdoor lanes, we have indoor archery and pistol ranges which I can use 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. I bring everything and take it all with me. If someone leaves brass in the bucket, I can take it.

I think this is too much worry on your part. In two months you will wear out your fingers before you wear out your gun.

2 months...just take a break and find a better spot after you leave.

Yes, but 50.00 for less than 2 months is a bit much I think. I'll only be in this town until Aug 10. I'd have to go a lot in those 48 days to get my moneys worth.

You're not thinking this out. If you go to the $15/hr range and do 3.5 hours of shooting, you've spent more than the $50. If they would cut you a special 2 month deal, do it, but, if they won't, still do it.

Location Location

I want to know where "Location Location is located? I'll join. Here in NE Ohio it's about $250 per person annually. . I have a family membership for $425. It includes all immediate family and they never charge for friends we bring. Membership includes 10% off range ammo if you buy it. You only have to use range ammo if you rent a gun. Also FFL fee is $20 instead of $45 and you get to order 1 gun per year at dealer cost.We can bring our own targets and ammo. AND we can shoot all but rapid fire.. unless there is no one else around. Then the owners don't care.
BUT I want to know where this $100 per year place is..It might be worth me moving. Are there jobs there?

New members only $80/year here in Kalamazoo. new member senior year is $50/yr. New member half year is $55. new member senior half year $40. So I guess not that bad then if I were to be here longer.
