So a guy that works at a local range really liked my Century Arms assembled Polish Tantal AK74. After handling it, he wanted to trade me his FAL for it. Being an AK guy, I wasn't too interested. Awhile later, the trade intrigued me so I asked him to send pics. It's a DS Arms made FAL, and in recent years they went from billet/forged receivers to cast (blah!) anyways, He sent me these pics

This is the first run of FAL rifles DS Arms produced. The receivers are made and machines by LMT (not in house cast) and the best part is that the parts used are all (minus 922r) are NOS Steyr STG58 parts kits, including the barrels (proof marks galore!)

And as you can see, very little wear on receiver. This thing hasn't been fired much at all

And here she is in all her glory

All together, I traded the rifle, 580 rounds of 5.45, and 6 mags (valued around $650-700) for a rifle that's worth easily double. Win!

That's a great looking gun! I'm currently waiting to see if a gun I bought on GB is a steal, or I just got taken. My fingers are crossed.

That's a nice rifle, real nice! I'd say you got the better part of the deal! ;)
I have a FAL and they are great shooting rifles,,,,Enjoy!

I had an FAL STG 58 with an all matching numbers kit built on an IMBEL receiver. Gun ran 100%..

Regrettably sold the gun.. looking for another..

Congrats.. you'll enjoy shooting it.

The best trades are when both parties think they got the better end of the deal. I'll bet the guy that traded that to you thinks he did, but we all know better!

Nice rifle!

FAL's a likeable brutes, but still brutes. They are heavy, super fun to load with the folding handle ;) and you can have all kinds of fun with the gas system and still not be able to shoot commercial .308 from one. Mine was a very early Century build using an unmarked IMBEL receiver with an Australian parts kit, according to my local FAL expert.

Does anyone here own an ACCURATE FAL? Mine just about meets battle accuracy of 4" at 100 yards with 7.62 NATO surplus..

I live about 10 miles away from D.S.A. and occasionally visit their showroom. Makes me wish I had a fatter wallet.

I would say good trade. You can replace that AK pattern for less than you can find a good quality FAL pattern these days.

I would have made the trade too.

I have a DSA with a medium heavy barrel that will hold an inch with match ammo and about 2" with Australian surplus ball. I also have two M1A's and it is more accurate than either of them.

WOW, you did so good on that deal you should feel guilty about it.Just the thought of someone trading a AK for an FAL makes me think WOW, just WOW. YOU did really, really good on that trade. WOW......
