One way snaps for a Bianchi X-15 holster
I recently acquired an X-15 shoulder holster that instead of a "One way snap" to hold it to by belt, has a regular snap.
Will Bianchi send me a couple or where can I get a couple of snaps?

It's worth a call. I know you can't use half of one style with pull-the-dot snaps.

The easy way is to convert the existing snap to a one way snap with a center punch. Make a small dent in the snap cover on the side you do not want the snap to come off. The dent should be positioned where it will prevent the snap ring from moving in that direction.

I suspect it may be difficult to visualize without a picture or an example to view, but if you can find one to look at it is really easy to do.

How to convert regular snaps to one way snaps

gboling:
It is my understanding that:
Unsnap the snap and turn it over.
Lay the snap's cover on it's back.
There are "wings"/flanges on the underside.
Tap the wing that direction you do not want the loose from.
Can you help or confirm my understanding?

It appears to me that you have the idea.

I have done this on other snaps but it appears that it will be difficult to make this work on the snaps on my Bianchi holsters as the place to hit with the punch is recessed into the thick leather, rendering it somewhat inaccessable. The idea is to place a dent in the edge of the snap so as to prevent the spring clip from moving in that directon. Thus, preventing the snap from opening from that side. This particular application may prevent access to the necessary portion of the snap.

In that case the existing snap could be drilled out and replaced. If you cannot find a directional snap, a regular snap could be modified before it is crimped in place.

You may want to find some old throw away snaps and practice a bit.

I hope this helps.

find some old throw away snaps

Well, I finally got around to trying to modify the snap.
I did not work.
Thanks, evertone for your suggestions.

I checked my leatherworking supply box and don't have any but I do remember buying some in the past from Tandy. They do have on line sites but I think their store fronts are closed.

There is a Tandy store in Charlotte at 4424 E. Independence Blvd. Their phone number is 704 536-8898.
