Only One Movie

That's a good tip re The Bad and the Beautiful, DWalt. I don't think I've ever seen it, at least not that I recall.

Per Wikipedia:

... The Bad and the Beautiful resulted in five Academy Awards out of six nominations in 1952, a record for the most awards for a movie that was not nominated for Best Picture or for Best Director...

Two bucks to rent off Amazon.

TBATB shows up on TCM several times per year. As do the others I mentioned. I usually cruise TCM weekly to see what is scheduled over the following several weeks so I can set the DVR. I watched one TCM movie offering early this morning that I had never seen or even heard of before - "John Paul Jones" (1959) starring Robert Stack in the role of the revolutionary war Naval hero. Not great but OK, based on fact but fictionalized too much for me. Sort of like watching a pirate movie.

'The Great Race'. Jack Lemon, Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood & a menagerie of supporting stars, traversing the globe. Rockets, airplanes, barnstorming, race cars, trains, guns, Russians, Western towns, the desert, Antartica, Castles, moats, Paris, Pie Fights, sword fights, fist fights, bar room brawls, Boat racing, Hot air ballooning, submarine shenanigans. The Hannibal 8, a spooky haunted bad guy castle, Long Live Professor Fate! 'Push the Button Max!" All good.

The Russians are coming, The Russians are coming.
Huge cast and some really good quotable lines.

-OR-

McLintock.... and Big Jake...
The chemistry between John Wayne and Mauren O'Hara was just electric.

The Dirty Dozen.

I might be able to tie films down to a top 20- but not just 1!
ANYTHING directed by John Ford.
All the above have GREAT ensemble casts.
