I initially thought to put this in the Reloading forum, but it applies to a wider audience...

How many of you get the Dillon Blue Press in the mail, and then throw it away or otherwise pass it on to someone else... after your done ogling it of course, (yeah... sure you don't :D).

Unless you live in NYC and have already had your address printed in the newspaper, here is a precautionary tip you may want to keep in mind.

Pull out the mail-in order-form first, take a look- your name and address are printed on it and anyone that finds it now knows your a gun owner and where you live.

I don't know if other catalogs we get in the mail do this also but I will be looking from now on.

(duh... also don't forget the mailing label on the back cover)

Any mail that goes in the recycle bin with my name and address on it gets shredded, first. Doesn't everyone do this?

I burn all of my personal info, then I mix the ashes before disposing into the soil.

Shredding is one solution that may deter a lot of people (especially if there are a lot of little pieces spread around) but a few years ago I saw a security demo where a crosscut document (shredded in two directions) was reconstituted to a readable page in 12 minutes. A single cut paper is pretty easy to put back together by eye.

Same goes for a lot of those pre-approved credit card applications.

All of my personal stuff gets burned and stirred before leaving the house.
