In a letter to the editor in this mornings newspaper a lady was
complaining about a man carrying a gun in a holster openly on
his hip, in the store. She said it makes people nervous.
I wrote a response saying what he was doing is not illegal, but
it's not very smart. If someone is in the store to shoot people,
the first one he will shoot is the guy with the gun. He can carry
concealed with or without a license now. That would be the smart
thing to do. In my opinion. What's yours?

I have mixed ideas about open carry. I prefer concealed carry. I like the look on the suspect's face when he suddenly looks down the barrel of a gun. However, I am waiting for whoever bought Gary Cooper's Registered Magnum to open carry that gun in the Carson City area.

I think it's a matter of choice. If you open carry some folks say you are the first one killed, that would mean the bad guy has been watching the store and knows you are in the store. I wonder just how situationally aware a bad guy really is when he/she is committing a crime.

I think that everyone should carry any way they like that is legal in their locale. I prefer concealed most of the time, but I sure don't try to impose that on anyone else since open carry is legal here. I open carry when in the woods or riding my quad...

Idaho, hunting season.

About the only time I open carry is in Montana during hunting season. If I am taking a big revolver out hunting it goes in its holster on mybelt and out the door. If I stop at a store or gas station, it stays on me.

What a person does legally is really their business. I hear open carry is illegal in California, there are buses, flights, trains to there daily. If ya short on cash maybe we can start a gofundme page.
