Opinion on Dry Fire

I read in another thread that dry firing Sigma series is ok. It helps loosen up the trigger which is heavy at first. Any thoughts??

If I may ask, would using a shell casing going to be the same as a snap cap?

I see snap caps for sale and never bought any. From an engineering stand point, it would seem an old shell casing would be the same and a lot cheaper since we all have them.

And why would would a snap cap need replacing?

The old trick I've used for a few decades is to take a fired, sized case, knock the primer out and fill the primer hole with silicone. Once the silicon is hard cut it flush with a razor blade, seat a bullet in the case then paint the base of the case and the bullet with a red permanent marker.

Some of the stuff I shoot it's hard to find factory snap caps for, and even harder to find spare parts for the firearms themselves.
