Opinion Wanted on 9mm Conversion

Almost anything is doable with enough money, but I think you would be better off finding a 547.

Can be done if you want to spend the money. Not sure of any custome smiths currently making 9mm revolvers, but for enough money, I'm sure some would be willing to tackle the project.

They rechamber to 9x23, allowing several 9mm cartridges with moonclips.

The bore of a .38/357 barrel will be.....357 compared to a 9mm which is .355. Not sure how that would affect accuracy. I guess if you reload your 9mm cases with .357 bullets, you would do just fine. But factory ammo with .355 bullets might be a problem if you don't rebarel.

An even better question would be "Why?" All you will have if you did it is basically a rimless .38. More practical, if you want (to do) something odd, is just shoot .38 ACP in the Model 10 as is.

You better double check that. If I remember correctly the .38 ACP was originally designated the .38 Rimless Smokeless and chambered in the Colt 1902 (Sporting and Military) and 1903 Pocket hammer. The cartridge is very, very close dimensionally to the 9mm Largo, 9mm Bergman Bayard and .38 Super (shooting a .38 Super in a .38 ACP pistol is a good way to get a slide stuck in your forehead). It's a rimless case that's longer than a 9mm Luger and I don't think it will chamber in a .38 Special. I've been wrong before, but I'm pretty sure on this one.

It is always bad, and I mean ALWAYS BAD, to shoot any ammo in a handgun(or long gun for that matter) that the weapon is not specifically intended and marked for. I am sure that some folks on this forum know more about this than I do, but I will stand by my position on this issue. Things may not go wrong, but if they do, the result could easily be similiar to holding a grenade in your hand instead of tossing it. Just not worth it, IMHO.

9mm ammo is alot cheaper than 38 or 357
It would be realy cool to score a Medusa cylinder & have it fitted to a K frame..

If you are going to spend the money to convert ANYTHING to a 9mm then you'd do well to take a look at the 9X25 Dillon; ballistically SUPERIOR to its older siblings.

I gotta ask too, Why? The 9mm is a very high pressure round, compared to the .38 sp. You can probably get similar balistics from a .38 with 125 gr bullets, but the pressures are probably going to be in the same realm as the 38-44, which the model 10 isn't made for.
