Fellow Smith & Wesson forum friends, I urge you to contact your state representatives to voice your opposition to any proposed gun bans that are being drafted up in the wake of the terrible tragedy at Sandy Hook. Anti-gun politicians and the national media are using this tragedy to try to get new legislation passed to take more rights away from law abiding gun owners. This new legislation will do nothing to reduce or prevent gun violence just as the "Assault Weapons" Ban of 1994 did nothing to reduce or prevent gun violence.
You must write your state representatives to be heard. Don't wait, please do this now. Call them, e-mail them, or even write them physical letters voicing your opposition. They represent YOU as your elected officials. Millions of letters and calls cannot go ignored. Also write President Barack Obama. Yes he's anti gun but write him anyway. He needs to hear us regardless of his stance.
Please, be respectful but firm in your unwavering support of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. And let them know you will NOT support anyone who votes for more gun control legislation.
Please click on this very helpful NRA link that will give you all of the contact information for your state representatives:
NRA-ILA | Write Your Reps
And while you are on the NRA site, if you are not yet a member, please join. All gun owners must unite right now. And we need to support the NRA in this fight.
This is what we are up against:

Thank you!

I would even suggest writing to representatives outside of your state. I have already sent emails to several U.S. Senators who have been waivering on their 2nd Amendment support since the Sandy Hook shooting. They need to hear how strong our conviction as Americans really is.

Perhaps Feinstein needs to hear from us as well...again, respectful, but firm.

Good idea, .....respectful, but firm. That's important.

Writing your Congressman

Thanks for the reminder, Twaits.

I just finishing writing Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who represents my district.

I composed my own letter and it took me the better part of an hour to compose what I thought was a straightforward message about my thoughts on the Newtown, Connecticut shooting and what should be done.

I think mental health issues, firearms storage and physical security at schools should be studied. I'm against any new gun control law and told Mr. Cantor that.

I hope all our fellow forum members will also take the time to contact their representatives in Congress. We need to keep up a constant stream of contact with these folks if we hope to thwart the push to weaken the Second Amendment.

To that end, I plan to do something every week, whether it's a letter, email or phone call, to keep reminding folks in D.C. that gun control is not the answer.
