A Smith carbine that is...

Does anyone here own and shoot one of the LeMat revolvers? I've been bitten by the black powder bug lately, and I think I owe it to myself to get one of these since my heros carried one or more of them.

I've been told that the smoothbore barrel usually doesn't fire easily though.

Thoughts? Comments?

Check out Dixie Gunworks site for the gun and the reviews from those who bought one.
Or go to a blackpowder shoot and hope someone has one.

Of COURSE, you need a LeMat, Andy! Absolutely! Heck, everybody knows that the LeMat is a must have gun for any red blooded American! Sheesh.

(Okay, pard, now you owe me for when I ask that question about some gun or another.

But...but...

I wasn't planning on carrying it on my hip to the bar-b-que! It's too heavy!

*grunt*

I guess I'll have to get another one so I won't walk sideways...

There is one nice thing about a LeMat...
I'll be the only guy at a bar-b-que with an "assault" revolver.

Nine shots of .44 conicals and a .62 round ball would be a formidable obstacle to anything that wanted to steal the taters and ramps.

It is properly carried in a pommel holster on a slick fork saddle. Normally on the near side, butt forward.

Because a Schofield doesn't have that neat little shotgun barrel. Now you will never miss a tin can when shooting offhand.
