Ordered parts from S&W - does this look like a white outline sight to you??

I ordered a red ramp front sight and white outline rear as replacements for my 625-6 MG. They sent the RR right away, but the WO was back ordered for a few weeks. When it arrived today I looked at it thru the clear plastic package and it looked 'gray' or 'light blue' to me, not white. Then when I compared it with a 19-4 I see the problem. The 'white' on the ordered sight (on the right below) is applied so thin that the black background shows thru.

I was taking it to my gunsmith tomorrow morning for the installation, but now I am considering returning the part to S&W, but I am not sure another one would be any better. Should I have ordered from someone else? With my old eyes, I need the real WO. What would you do?

Either return it to S&W, or repaint it with gloss white model airplane paint and a small artist's brush.

say what!

I'd call S&W first then send that thing right back to them. If we accept inferior products from S&W they will keep on sending out things like that.

Surely someone's eyes saw what they were stuffing in the little envelope. Might even have a name of the person that packed the product on the packing slip.

You know you will never be happy with that as a rear sight.

I would call Smith PR at first opportunity and express my concerns. I don't think they would intentionally ship such quality.

I would get on the phone, tell them the story, and tell them I want a sight that is painted correctly. I've had to do this kind of thing more than once, and reputable companies will do the right thing.

Smith will do the right thing. I bought a brand new factory sealed Performance Center snub nose model 327 and when I opened the box, I found several places on the finish that I didn't like and a small cylinder ring and didn't like the look of the wooden grips. Told them this was going to be an unfired collectable. Sent the gun back, they sent me a letter stating that they had destroyed frame number xxxx, and they were building me a new gun. The gun was perfect and they had taped the cylinder with paper so no ring and sent two pairs of grips with it. It was first class service. The only other company that I have seen give that kind of service is the David Clark Headset Co. from Worster, MA
