Claude, Unless that experienced S&W collector who examined your "pre-Navy" is Roy Jinks and he will write you a letter that says the factory records say it's a Navy gun, then all is guesswork. All Victory Models are just another Model 1905, 4th change, with a dull finish, until you have the factory letter to document the DNA. Too many fake Navy guns around to rely on anything other than the letter for the gun. Ed.

Hello Claude:

Thanks for the additional information. From your serial number we can estimate from the Database that your pre-Victory was likely shipped from the factory in the April, 1942 time frame. There are a couple of other guns in this general serial range in the Database that are Navy shipped guns.

I would have to examine the revolver or see some very good pics of in in order to determine if the Navy markings on the left frame are authentic, as they are now a favorite of the fakers.

The factory letter will tell you if it was indeed shipped to the Navy and when. I hope that when you get your letter you will let us know what it says, and we can then add that info to the Database.

Thanks again.

Charlie

charlie thanks for all your help. question bullseye smith(post 11/15 v293328) victory description is the same as my(post11/14) victory v275295, could mine possibly be part of same navy order.

Hi, I attempted to send you 10 digital photos of the pre-victory Navy through your e-mail [email protected]. I removed the nospam portion as you advised. Is this correct. I will attempt to send it again. Please advise. Claude
