I honestly expected that Federal Judge Immergut would put the measure on hold on it's own merits. She declined to do so, however she did put the "purchase permit" on hold AT THE REQUEST OF THE STATE because none of the counties have a mechanism in place in order to implement Measure 114.

However, Harney County Circuit Judge Robert Raschio put the whole thing on hold. He said, "Deprivation of fundamental constitutional rights for any period of time constitutes irreparable harm."

The Oregon DOJ has announced their intention to appeal Raschio's decision to the state Supreme Court.

At this stage it is not the win I would have expected, but it is a win nevertheless, at least in the short term.

This whole thing has created one big mess. It is not too hard to figure out how this all will turn out. Leave any decision in the hands of the leftward leaning Oregon Supreme Court, and it won't turn out well for freedom loving gun owners. We can only hope that eventually the SCOTUS will strike all or part of this bill down.
