Senate Bill 501, we'll need a permit to buy a gun, outlaw mags over 5 rounds, only buy 20 rds. of ammo per month, etc. Because some high school kids think it is right. GOD help us. This can not stand. Talk about "infringe".

It isn't the kids....they are just for show. You think 17 year old kids are writing the proposed legislation, maintaining the websites, lobbying legislators, buying media time, lining up network tv appearances and magazine interviews, paying for trips to D.C. and state capitols and contributing to campaign funds? Millions of dollars were spent in 2018 in state elections to get "right" people elected on this issue.

We need to wake up and understand the anti-gun movement is well-funded, well organized, tech savvy and much smarter than they used to be, and they know what arguments appeal to the masses. The old "what part of shall not be infringed don't you understand" arguments we like to make to each other will not stand up to judicial scrutiny, don't influence legislators or voters and are not going to stand up to the onslaught. If we don't get smarter we are going to get run over.

Those gun control bills, restricting only the law-abiding citizen, directly support the criminal element.

It is scary that they really believe all those bans will cut down on gun violence. It's unbelievable how many followers this movement has. The 3rd Reich comes to mind. Everyone gets a reality check when it's too late...

I didn't realize Oregon was such a hotbed of violent crime.

They do not know their history, they were not taught history.

Alcohol was a very restricted and generally prohibited item in the U.S. from 1920 to 1933, the intent was to reduce or completely eliminate the demon known as alcoholism. Noble intent, but gave organized crime an avenue for growth and prosperity. Bans of firearms have been enacted in many nations throughout history. Those bans often are less about crime and more about control over the citizens and can create a healthy black market.

The anti gun movement has been and continues to be a well organized and well funded campaign by the likes George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. Protesters that consist of Kids and Teens are just pawns. I need to move out of the NYS and live in a free state. The NYS legislature is now under complete control of the liberals. It's a matter of time before additional gun control legislation will be passed. Big fan of Idaho and Wyoming, the latter having zero state income tax...

They don't believe that for a second. It's about control. They need to control the people who know what these power-mad legislators are up to, so we won't use the 2A for its intended purpose.

An America that's addicted to drugs, disarmed, scared of confrontation, and mocked for "toxic masculinity" is an America that the Bloombergs, Pelosis, and Clintons can rule with impunity.

Bingo. This is what's behind it exactly. Removing a perceived threat to the power structure.

Along the lines of your comment, did you happen to catch the news on Brazil a couple of weeks ago? Wracked by a world record murder rate, fueled by criminals with black market firearms, Brazil is considering a loosening of their tight gun controls so citizens can protect themselves. Is this our future a couple generations from now? Considering what we are witnessing now, I don't think its to far out of the realm of possibility. Presidential candidates are now questioning the relevance of the US Constitution, and be wary of any politician that calls the US Constitution a "living document". Anything that lives, will eventually die. Be afraid...be very afraid.

Having read the bill, and being an Oregon resident, I'm concerned that I will be dramatically paring down my collection soon lest I become a criminal. Apparently my S&W revolvers will be outlawed here. I do appreciate the charitable gesture of the children that wrote this bill being that "lever action revolvers" will be exempted.

Afraid this typifies the general attitude: When anti firearm bills are written, our side rushes to counteract them. When a pro firearms bill is presented, I see comments (from our side) about how they're "just grandstanding", "playing to the base", etc.
It serves us better to push as hard and as often, stay on the offensive, rather than playing pessimistic defense.
We know the opposition NEVER stops pushing its agenda, and, you know what?, it works, at least in those states that fall for it.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill is a good example. The idea is perfect, given our current power structure, but we shouldn't need it in the first place. So some will speak against the bill because it "shouldn't" be necessary. The perfect is the enemy of the good.

But on the other hand, a truly Libertarian set of laws would only list a few important things that are illegal, leaving everything else legal. You shouldn't have to write a law to say what's allowed. But the 2A is just that; keeping and bearing arms is allowed, because the government isn't permitted to prevent it. And yet here we are. :(
